Did they ever investigate these matters - i.e. his college drinking and his sexual assault allegations? If not it doesn't matter how many irrelevant prior investigations he had.

I'm 100% sure they would have. For the positions he held, he was checked, check and checked again. A 7th is not going to make a single difference.

So why didn't they come forward the 6 other times he was subjected to background checks and the likes? He didn't come out of the woodwork in September 2018 did he? He has held extremely high ranking positions for many years already...

Kavanaugh appeared to be saying he heard of the charges after they appeared in the New Yorker in September.

NBC reports that this, like many things Kavanaugh said in his testimony, is false. Kavanaugh’s friends gathered testimony attempting to refute Ramirez’s allegations weeks before the New Yorkerstory. Some of the witnesses were contacted by people working on Kavanaugh’s behalf as early as July, according to text messages one witness has shared with the FBI.
