Is that what they call it in alternative facts land? "Careless breach of protocol"?

The rest of us call it for what it is: an orange manbaby acting like an autocrat by throwing his weight around to fire someone who has the TEMERITY to disagree with his claims.
:crylaugh:

Tell me, what purpose does this breach serve? Does it expose any sort of wrongdoing on the part of the president? Are you going to start the impeachment process now? :crylaugh:

Isn't that what you were claiming to justify firing Tillerson?

In other news, the armed teachers initiative is such a great idea.
Looks like it's starting off with a bang.

Seriously though, Israel started arming their teachers after 2 terrorist attacks back in the 70s. No attacks on schools since then.

New York Times reports:

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is reviewing a recommendation to fire the former F.B.I. deputy director, Andrew G. McCabe, just days before he is scheduled to retire on Sunday, people briefed on the matter said. […] Mr. McCabe is ensnared in an internal review that includes an examination of his decision in 2016 to allow F.B.I. officials to speak with reporters about an investigation into the Clinton Foundation. The Justice Department’s inspector general concluded that Mr. McCabe was not forthcoming during the review, according to the people briefed on the matter. That yet-to-be-released report triggered an F.B.I. disciplinary process that recommended his termination — leaving Mr. Sessions to either accept or reverse that decision.

Now, Mr. Sessions is the final arbiter of Mr. McCabe’s dismissal, shortly before his retirement takes effect Sunday. Though no decision has been made, people inside the Justice Department expect him to be fired before Friday, a decision that would jeopardize his pension as a 21-year F.B.I. veteran.Under F.B.I. rules, internal reports are referred to the bureau’s Office of Professional Responsibility, which makes disciplinary recommendations. Mr. McCabe can appeal that recommendation to the attorney general. A Justice Department spokeswoman declined to say whether Mr. McCabe would be fired.

Fox News contributor Sara A. Carter recently told Fox News host Sean Hannity that Justice Department Inspector General, Michael Horowitz, is investigating whether or not McCabe asked bureau agents to “change their 302s.

A day after the New York Times reported FBI Director Christopher Wray confronted McCabe over unspecified findings in DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report, the Washington Post reveals the embattled bureau official is being probed over his role in examining emails found on former Rep. Anthony Weiner’s laptop.

You see, if McCabe did get agents to change their 302s, then that means Flynn is innocent of all charges with respect to lying to the FBI. Now why would people be recommending that McCabe be fired if he did nothing wrong? Could it be because the whole case against Flynn stinks like a rotten fish because it was set up by a partisan hack who was trying to curry political favour on behalf of his wife? :whistling:

Or not.

Enter Israel: When the knife intifada erupted in September 2015, the Israeli government's response was to ease the process for the civilian populace to obtain weapons. After a particularly bloody Jerusalem shooting attack that killed four, then-Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan drastically changed the gun laws in order to significantly raise the number of armed civilians on the streets. Instantly, graduates of Special Forces units and IDF officers with the rank of Lieutenant and above were permitted to purchase guns at their will, security guards were allowed to bring their guns home after work, and the minimum age for a license was reduced from 21 to 18.

Erdan explained that "civilians well trained in the use of weapons provide reinforcement in the struggle against terrorism", while Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat called for every resident to carry a gun, and was even photographed traveling the city carrying a Glock 23.

In addition, the overwhelming majority of terror attacks in Israel are stopped by armed civilians, not law enforcement. For example, the terrorists in the 2016 Sarona market attack were stopped by armed passersby. A pistol-carrying tour guide put an end to the 2017 ramming attack in Arnona that left four soldiers dead.

When terrorists attacked a school in Maalot in 1974, Israel did not declare every school a gun-free zone. It passed a law mandating armed security in schools, provided weapons training to teachers and today runs frequent active shooter drills. There have been only two school shootings since then, and both have ended with teachers killing the terrorists.

Yeshivat Otniel shooting 2002 - killed by IDF soldiers

During the event soldiers from Lavi Battalion rushed to the scene and waged a 30-minutes gun battle with one of the terrorists, who had barricaded himself in the kitchen room, before being shot dead. During the exchange of fire the second terrorist managed to flee the building, and ran through the valley south of the settlement towards Dahariya. Additional IDF forces from the Nahal Brigade assisted by a tracker pursued the second terrorist and approached him near a large quarry. The terrorist noticed the soldiers and opened fire on them, wounding three of them seriously. A gun battle was waging between the IDF force and the terrorist while he was hiding behind rocks and bushes. Eventually two IDF soldiers managed to charge at him simultaneously from both sides, and kill him.[2] In total, five IDF soldiers who participated in the gun battles with the terrorists were injured during the exchange of fire.

“The vast majority of schools have armed security guards,” Israeli Ministry of Education spokesman Amos Shavit said, adding that schools that do not are supposed to have heavy locks and security systems.

Visitors to a school are questioned by the guard, who checks their bags and sometimes uses a hand-held metal detector, and entry is strictly forbidden to anyone without authorization, Shavit said.

That is augmented by municipal security units that work in conjunction with police.

“If there is an incident at a school, they will be there in a minute or less,” Shavit said.

The small number of teachers who have a legal gun license and usually carry a weapon can do so in school, but it is not policy or encouraged, he said.

“Teachers here aren’t supposed to be carrying weapons in classrooms, teachers are supposed to teach,” he said.

Ok, so the claims of the teachers having stopped all the attacks isn't necessarily true, but the fact of the matter is that Israeli teachers are armed and their arming was actively encouraged as part of a national policy in reaction to a terrorist attack. Given that 98% of mass shootings in America happen in gun-free zones, putting schools in the 2% bracket appears to be a good idea.

GOP senator says he will oppose Pompeo and Haspel, complicating their paths to confirmation

Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul said Wednesday that he intends to oppose President Donald Trump's nominations of Mike Pompeo as secretary of state and Gina Haspel as the next CIA director, complicating their confirmation process in the Senate where Republicans have a very slim majority.

"I'm perplexed by the nominations of people who loved the Iraq War so much they advocate for war with Iran," Paul told reporters on Capitol Hill in explaining his opposition to the nominees.
The announcement doesn't necessarily block the pair's paths to confirmation. Paul sits on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, where Republicans hold a one-seat advantage, so if Paul carries out his threat to vote "no" -- and all Democrats vote against him -- Senate Republican leaders would need to decide if they would move the nominations to the floor without committee approval.
Republicans hold a narrow 51-49 advantage in the Senate, so Paul's opposition -- and possible opposition to Haspel from Arizona GOP Sen. John McCain -- means Republicans might need to rely on some support from Democrats.

CC konfab.

Good on Paul.

I don't think your source knows the history very well.

I'm guessing the laws passed in 1995 superceded the arrangements made in the 70s.

Yes you know more about the history of Israels education than Israels Ministry of Education, despite showing nothing to indicate so but lies.

The sooner you realise you should stop taking these things at face value from whatever nonsense source you get them from, the better position you will find yourself in. How many mistakes do you have to make before this gets through your skull?

Is there clear evidence of a response to get civilian volunteers to defend the country after the Ma'alot attacks? Yes.

Were there further reforms in 1995 that mandated that all schools should have armed security at the gates? Yes.

Is it a fact that Israel's schools are not gun-free zones? Yes.

Given the above, and given the fact that 98% of mass shootings in the US occur in gun-free zones, is a policy of arming teachers likely to pay dividends? Yes.

Oh, I account for my mistakes and move on. The mistake you're now alleging, though, doesn't exist.

Oh look, Carson lied.

Ben Carson and his wife 'picked out' $31,000 furniture set, new email shows

Ben Carson and his wife personally selected a $31,000 furniture set for his office at the department of housing and urban development, according to a newly released email that contradicts past statements by Carson and his aides.

Carson and his spokesman Raffi Williams repeatedly claimed that the Hud secretary was not involved in a decision to make the purchase, after the Guardian revealed a controversy at the department around the furnishing of his office.

“Nobody was more surprised than me,” Carson said in a statement, before saying that he would cancel the order amid the controversy. Williams, who initially denied that the furniture order existed, also insisted that Carson had no involvement.

But in an email on 29 August last year that was released on Wednesday, an official at Hud wrote that Carson and his wife, Candy, had “picked out” the furniture themselves.
