Wait for it.. The Trumpites saying that Trump should get one if he pulls something off are the sames ones who will say it's worthless since Obama got one. Not that I disagree with just the latter part.

And the US is still not clear that that's what they're looking for. Pompeo walked back the denuclearisation demand.

The other great stupidity here is that Trump pulled out of the Iran deal because of how horrible it is, but are now trying to achieve something similar with the Norks... :confused:

The US has made all the concessions so far. Praised him, given in on the face to face meeting the Norks have been wanting for 20+ years, etc.

Former Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone privately sought information he considered damaging to Hillary Clinton from WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange during the 2016 presidential campaign, according to emails reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

The emails could raise new questions about Mr. Stone’s testimony before the House Intelligence Committee in September, in which he said he “merely wanted confirmation” from an acquaintance that Mr. Assange had information about Mrs. Clinton, according to a portion of the transcript that was made public.

After the meeting was organized NK said USA must be silly to think they will come to the table willing to denuclearize. It was always on the table, and it was always the ultimatum, denuclearize 100% or face even worse sanctions. NK said USA can gfts if this is what they want. USA said gfys NK the meeting is canceled!

It was always the main point for the discussions, and Trump's aim. Unarm the Kim dynasty, win the Nobel Peace prize!

Actually the aim of NK and SK was deescalation and phased denuclearization. President Moon Jae In was working towards this goal and it was generally understood to be what NK wanted as well. The US screwed SK hard by hardlining and showboating Trump's dealmaking prowess, then dropping the ball when it became clear they didn't have the skills to negotiate and they didn't understand the situation.

It is very regretful and disconcerting that the US-NK summit will not happen as planned. Denuclearization and the lasting peace on the Korean peninsula cannot be abandoned or delayed as they are the historical assignment. The sincerity of the affected parties who have been working to resolve the problem has not changed. It is hard to resolve sensitive and difficult diplomatic issues with the current way of communications. (We) hope that the leaders resolve problems through direct and close dialogue.

So it’s been quite the season in diplomacy for Trump, the self-glorified deal-maker. First, he pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal, which had been working quite well, thus alienating the United States from its European allies, whose leaders had co-signed the deal, and whom he is now also threatening with economic sanctions if they try to keep the deal going. Now he cancels a summit, which never had the slightest chance of producing the results he hoped for (North Korean disarmament, a peace treaty, and gobs of contracts for U.S. firms to turn the communist dictatorship into a capitalist paradise) but which could have resulted in modest, useful steps toward a relaxation of tensions.

What is Trump’s Plan B? As usual, he doesn’t have one.

Trump was played.

By SK and NK.

Moon has been pushing for peace. That is why he said Trump deserves a Peace prize. He played to Trumps ego and Trump was there like a bear.

NK never explicitly said denuclearization was on the cards.

Once the summit gained momentum and the US stated its goals, NK made it clear that denuclearization is not one of them.

Kim would never give that up. Hardliners in NK would stage a coup.

Ultimately Kim wanted the summit to get a seat at the table.

They never really wanted the talks to succeed in denuclearization and wanted to be seen as the good guys in the negotiation. They wanted to be seen as willing to negotiate. They knew ultimately the talks would fail because they want to retain those weapons. They wanted it to look like America were the unwilling negotiators.

They succeeded.

Their relations with SK and China are much healthier. Kim outwitted Trump masterfully here.
