That's the bait. As I said, do you really think Trump is so catastrophically oblivious to the world that he wouldn't know about movie ratings?

I do actually... I've told you for so for nearly two years in three separate threads.

Right, so you choose to hold to your Trump derangement syndrome instead of recognising reality. You must think it really odd for someone so incompetent and oblivious to the way entertainment works to actually become an international success in the entertainment industry.

I remember watching a Wrestlemania once. Hulk Hogan won, but Trump wasn't in it. Also, I've never watched a single episode of the Apprentice. For me, folk like Leno, Letterman and Stewart were stars, hell even Oprah. Trump was just a shady developer... You and I have a very different definition of international success in the entertainment industry.

Kayfabe is often seen as the suspension of disbelief that is used to create the non-wrestling aspects of promotions, such as feuds, angles, and gimmicks, in a manner similar to other forms of fictional entertainment. In relative terms, a wrestler breaking kayfabe during a show would be likened to an actor breaking character on-camera. Also, since wrestling is performed in front of a live audience, whose interaction with the show is crucial to its success, kayfabe can be compared to the fourth wall in acting, since hardly any conventional fourth wall exists to begin with. In general, anything in a professional wrestling show is to some extent scripted, or "kayfabe", even though at times it is portrayed as legitimate.

Kayfabe was fiercely maintained for decades, but with the advent of the Internet wrestling community, and the sports entertainment movement, the pro wrestling industry has become less concerned with protecting so-called backstage secrets and typically maintains kayfabe only during the shows. Kayfabe is, however, occasionally broken during shows, usually when dealing with genuine injuries during a match or paying tribute to wrestlers.
Plenty of actors have broken into American politics to become a president. Only one of them so far was educated in the art of kayfabe.

He put in a motion to withdraw from the case, so yeah, fired his client. Gates is either not taking advice or so toxic his lawyer just wants out.
Wasn't Gates' lawyer the one who had a reputation for reaching plea agreements with Mueller?

And sure, Paul was just the coffee boy, folk hardly knew him, low level... :p
The more crooked you are, the more careful you are about vetting your business partners before entering into arrangements with them, wouldn't you agree? And as per above with respect to Kayfabe, baiting Clinton into making Trump look friendly with the Russians looks like the ploy they used to destabilise her campaign.

EDIT: Oof! $30M+ in money laundering is one of the charges...
Why did Tony Podesta shut down a business that had yielded a $20m profit the preceding year? How is it that Tony Podesta knew to declare the transactions that would otherwise have lead to the same FARA charges Manafort is facing just before Manafort got nailed for his violation? ;)

Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens indicted for felony invasion of privacy charge apparently stemming from extramarital affair

Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens was indicted Thursday on a felony invasion of privacy charge and taken into custody.

The charge against the governor apparently stems from a 2015 affair. Greitens, 43, allegedly threatened to release a nude photograph of a woman, blindfolded and hands bound, if she talked publicly about the relationship.

The Republican is serving his first term. He took office in January 2017.

"We have to look at the internet because a lot of bad things are happening to young kids and young minds and there minds are being formed, and we have to do something about maybe what they're seeing and how they're seeing it. And also video games. I'm hearing more and more people say the level of violence on video games is really shaping young people's thoughts. And you go one further step and that's the movies. You see these movies, and they’re so violent, a kid is able to see the movie if sex isn’t involved, but killing is involved, and maybe they have to put a rating system for that." - Donald J Trump. Feb 22, 2018

Is someone going to tell him?

Going with a Daily Beast link 'cos The Hill has one of those annoying autoplay popup video thingies

Bawahaha

What’s sad / scared, the first 3 words and I knew it was trump

You laugh at Trump for not knowing something obvious, which then turns into a big debate about the obvious, and the first conclusion about the obvious is that the existing regulations obviously don't work. So then by virtue of your laughter, you incur the very reasonable cost of having to explain what's different about a working regulation before you even start to talk about the regulations themselves (in this case gun regulations).

In the same way, Trump managed to get the Dems to spike the deal they were working on by talking about "schithole countries", leading to the Dems telling the world that America thinks other places are schithole countries, creating an international diplomatic incident, and the left-wing then going on a moral crusade about how great places like Haiti are when it's so obviously a lie, all for the sake for trying to laugh at Trump. Well congrats ya knuckleheads, you just ensured that you don't get to say that the immigration measures enable people to escape a life of misery cuz you said there's no such thing as schithole countries, remember?

So what do you think, is Trump really that oblivious about the existence of existing regulations, or is he simply goading you into adopting a position that isn't in your best interests?

That’s scary.......it’s like playing corporate politics on another level

I see a few people still trying to convince themselves that Trump is some Machiavellian genius who's playing a fiendishly clever game with the world.

Even before he became president, Trump was low in the intelligence stakes. Every time he opens his mouth he streams another dissociated river of shcit.

I'm sorry, but from years of seeing this going on, and by the principle of parsimony, I conclude that Trump is not intelligent enough for this supposed n-dimensional chess nonsense.

Neither are there some shadowy deep-state evildoers behind the scenes driving all this @ss-hattery.

It's what it seems to be - a monumental train wreck of a mistake by the dimwitted American majority who supported the candidate in the first place.

Save it for the Trump thread. @Mods can someone move this.

Back to US politics.
Haley reassured her Chicago audience that the peace roadmap "won't be loved and won't be hated" by either Israel or the Palestinians. She added that “it’s up for them to decide” how to best solve the conflict, and "if they decide on two states, the United States will support two states. If they decide on certain boundaries, the United States is going to support those boundaries."

My feeling on this is that the US deal will involve Israel taking Jerusalem and exchanging it for land elsewhere. This would most likely go with Israel having to give citizenship to everyone in the borders of the city.

Some of the most important Muslim holy sites are in Jerusalem they will never willingly just accept it as a part of Israel in exchange for land elsewhere. Any solution needs to give both Palestinians and Israelis access to Jerusalem, irrespective of anything else. There was a huge outcry when Trump said he would recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
In 1947, when Israel and Palestine were partitioned, Jerusalem was to be administered as an international city, but in 1948, Israel invaded a part of the city. In the war of 1967, Israel occupied the remainder of the city.

Any real lasting solution would need to go back to Jerusalem being administered as an international city, belonging to neither Israel nor Palestine but giving access to all.

Manafort apparently was unable to perform the document conversion himself, and unable to figure out how to edit the PDF directly with the mystic toolset known as Adobe Acrobat. So the trail he created by telling Gates over email to handle the task helped the Mueller investigation unearth the fraud and build a case against the duo.

That's the Palestinian position but Israel refuses to compromise.

So Rick Gates changed his plea to guilty and will cooperate with Mueller.

He admitted that he lied to the FBI *3 weeks ago*, while in a proffer session trying to cut a deal. :wtf:

His lawyers quit the same day.

You have to wonder what they're hiding that they're willing to lie to the FBI (and go down for it) rather than admit what they were actually up to.

It's going to be so much fun finding out.
