Emjay, serious question... If you were watching this and instead of Brett Kavanaugh giving this exact performance, it was Britt Kavanaugh, a woman... Would you be comfortable with any of it?

Personally I feel what people did in their misspent youth shouldn't come back to haunt them in this manner. At least he groping not sure she should have let the rape go unreported so long. What we do in our youth should stay there unless it continues on in our adult life, people make mistakes and people mature out of that youth. Unless she's pursuing a purely criminal matter, it really should have a bearing on his career. It should only matter if she feels he's the same slimeball he was as a teen today and therefore unsuitable for assuming a position in the supreme court.

I think you're wrong about his power, the way the US appoint those judges matter as depending on who is in power, they tend to try stack the bench in the favour of the party in power. It's an opportunity they can't let pass as it only comes once in a lifetime given the tenure in that court.

Re. the bolded part: as I said in a previous post - I fully agree with that, with the caveat that their present conduct justifies it. If he admitted it, asked forgiveness, then it's a different thing. But what did he do when he started engaging publicly? He lied, repeatedly, about extremely obvious things, but also important, non-trivial things. That's different, because it's an indictment on his current conduct.

The thing that guts me about Dr. Blasey's "niceness" is that she has no choice. If she, for one second, betrays that she dislikes the men who tried to rape her or the men trying to defend them, SHE will be cast as the abusive, violent party in the exchange.

They're also using Ed Whelan's map - ya know, the guy that just straight up accused some random middle school teacher of actually being the attempted rapist. They totally didn't work together on that.

Dick Durbin asked him *eight* times if he wanted an FBI investigation to clear his name. Eight times Kav dodged the question, including the "So you're not going to answer me" moment.

Emjay, I appreciate your mask of bipartisanship, but you can relax and embrace your conservative self here.
We argue left and right, sure, but there's no bad blood and the truth is, we enjoy it. Be who you are. We're fine with it.

No comment needed, after his speech hit on the same nerve that won Trump the election he's likely to be confirmed. Lefties, likewise were using their same tactics from the 2016 election, we all know how that worked out in the end.

American Bar Association: Delay Kavanaugh until FBI investigates assault allegations

In a strongly worded letter obtained by CNN Thursday, the organization said it is making the extraordinary request "because of the ABA's respect for the rule of law and due process under law," siding with concerns voiced by Senate Democrats since Christine Blasey Ford's decades-old allegations became public.


Kavanaugh noted he was "thoroughly vetted" by the ABA.

"For 12 years, everyone who has appeared before me on the D.C. Circuit has praised my judicial temperament," Kavanaugh said Thursday. "That's why I have the unanimous, well qualified rating from the American Bar Association."

Sens. Flake (R-AZ), Collins (R-ME), Murkowski (R-AK), and Manchin (D-WV) are expected to vote in favor of Kavanaugh. All the Republicans are voting yes. Also, in the rumor mill, several Democrats may break ranks and back Kavanaugh. That’s the ball game, folks.
