US politics general thread. It seemed appropriate. I think very few economists are in much doubt that there will be a market correction, I wonder if we are seeing the beginnings of it.

I think we are. The US economy is strong though. I think most folks didn't want Trump to own the stock market success because it is fickle and ultimately if you own the highs you also got to own the lows.

I wonder what effect a downturn in the US economy will have on the administration's popularity. I'm willing to bet it would be significant. The tax reform has been unpopular but it seemed to juice the economy.

When there's QE and low interest rates, stocks go up, when there's QT and tightening interest rates, stocks go down.

Why? Cuz we're in a debt bubble, stupid.

It's really quite simple. If it's okay for non-white people to do things white people find offensive, but it's not okay for white people to do things non-white people find offensive, you're a racist, end of story.

Who knows, maybe Cerebus' kid was actually picking up on a rampant double standard within society. Is such a double standard disgusting? I leave it to the reader to decide. :unsure:
