No. Most state houses have new security perimeters set up, additional security, and in some cases have passed laws to prohibit firearms in State Capitols. Everyone is taken measures. Also, Joe's incoming DNI said she'll be working with the FBI on a threat assessment of white nationalism and Qanon.

How can any layman as you put it not see the obvious disconnect here?

The lack of the most basic ability to do critical thinking on the left never ceases to amaze me.

Even if the threat of violent right-wing extremists wasn't completely in their heads, you wouldn't even need 5% of the number of troops to deal with it. The existing deployed police have been sufficient to deal with far bigger threats than what the media has gas-lit them into perceiving as coming from the right.

I have yet to see someone with a remotely plausible explanation as to why anywhere near that number of troops would be needed for anything related to Biden being inaugurated.

I for one will have plenty of popcorn ready for what happens next.

I have yet to see someone with a remotely plausible explanation why anywhere near that number of troops would be needed for anything related to Biden being inaugurated.

I for one will have plenty of popcorn ready for what happens next.

They probably actually believe there is a credible threat from the right and that there exists an organized militia network or something..... and that these people are brainwashed enough to attack the capitol and install Trump as Caesar.

All hogwash of course, armed resistance is still a few years into the future when the right finally realizes the revolution has happened and that playing by the rules is a con..... and even then there is the possibility where the revolution will have progressed so far that no resistance is possible anymore.

I found this on a military sub on Reddit frequented by current and former military personnel. They were talking about the amount of personnel deployed for the inauguration. I think the person sums up the state of mind in the US right now pretty accurately and without bias. This can be applied to this entire thread as well regards political violence and how widespread it has become.

When mobs rampage on private property the state goes out of it's way to enable them. When they do so on state property suddenly everyone looses their minds even though the actual damage done is infinitesimal in comparison. I even remember federal buildings being sacked and the politicians enabling the mobs.... but this time it's not their pet mad dogs doing it and they need to maintain ideological control.

As you said "white nationalism" is now considered the threat.... but not because of their physical danger which is completely contained, they are in direct opposition to radical integration and the ideological threat is a danger to the goals of the party.

Massachusetts has deployed elements of their National Guard as well. The Massachusetts State House has also seen its security and defences increased.
