I can already see the beat up face on camera. "I had a nice chat with a peaceful protestor. It didn't last long before he peacefully wanted to play some baseball with my face. I had to leave and make some tea."

I agree, some folks can't differentiate, but the issue I have is that claiming there are tanks can change the whole complexion of what is going on. Tanks are full blown military and points to an escalation of the situation. ''They're deploying tanks against people'' rings different.
One of the reasons why the US doesn't like to use tanks on patrols in Iraq/Afghanistan and why the MRAPs get bad PR is because they change the ''tone'' of things. They're seen as vehicles of war, not security.
