Hey all, I recently moved my modem to my main PC and all of a sudden every time I turn the modem on/off while in windows the PC reboots, I've tried reinstalling but to no avail, it never did this on my other PC, any ideas? The motherboard is a nForce2 which has USB 2.0 whereas the old one had USB 1.0, is this of any consequence?

Are you running multi-threading???

If yes , turn it off in the bios....

That might help!!!

multi threading? havent seen that in the bios but i shall have a gander, thanks...

My PC has nForce2 with USB 2.0 (ASUS board) - No Problem. I dont even have an issue with my notebook's Hyperthreading CPU... (Im running win2k - and since ProAsm made a few win2k adjustments, Im very happy)

Have you installed the latest windows service pack? (Except that nobody trusts XP SP2 yet - thats what I heard)

Otherwise how new is the motherboard chipset drivers? - I use the latest drivers from nVidia.com... But urm, It works for me, It does not mean that it will work for everybody... "I take no responsibility blah blah"

SIGH, this can get complicated, you can even try stuff like switching off error checking on the USB ports.... And in the end decide to reload windows...

Are you running a P4 processor... they have multi threading!!!

Dudes, nVidia (nForce2) chipset only supports Athlon XP chips - there is no Hyperthreading.

Sorry not a motherboard guru.....LMAO

Now thats what i call really missing the plot.....

Errrrrrmmmmm ......................................................................................................

I think this is why rpm spent so much time and effort creating a MyWireless technical forum

If we don't take care of the customers, maybe they'll stop bugging us.

yeah i have latest drivers, service packs and all and all... and it cant be the power supply or USB controller cos i have no problems with anything else and I use lots of other USB devices... oh well its not such a problem cos the modem never goes off anyway... shall try a few things and hope for a solution, thanks for all the help.

DOPE! dont you hate it when you have a really dumb moment and need to smack yourself on the forehead harder than sentech is screwing us! i just realised when i reloaded my PC i installed the old nForce drivers that came with my board, loaded the new ones and presto, problem solved! once again, DOPE!

Atleast you as a typical user..... picked up the problem in 30 minutes

SENTECH is still busy after 3 months

Just tells me plenty!!!!
