USB Modem for laptops and desktops

Guys,

I bought the USB Modem for laptops and desktops (http://www.iburst.co.za/images/iBurst/products/modem/4.jpg)
from iburst because I'm on a Laptop.

I've noticed my signal strength is quite erratic.
There is a socket at the top of the modem, does anyone know if I can add an
antenna to strenghten the signal ?????

The modem already comes with a small antenna you can plug into that socket on top.
