USB not recognised by Windows Vista

My Windows Vista computer does not recognise USB devices - i.e. memory sticks & Modem. Same devices works on XP and Windows 7 machines.
Does anybody has a solution ? Please!!

Maybe your USB ports are zorched? Is it a desktop machine or a laptop?

Get a cheap USB add-in card and install it and see if those ports work.

have you tried uninstalling & reinstalling the drivers?

Has any drivers/setting been changed recently?

Have you tried uninstalling vista and installing seven instead? or linux?
