for a few days now i am not able to connect my phone or my mp4 to my pc. when i connect either through a usb hub or straight into the usb slot at the back of my pc the device keeps on opening up and then shutting down after a second or two. i also get an error report saying i have inserted an unknown device of something.

what can be the problem?

thanks.

I had the same problem today with a customers n80, when you plug it in it says USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNISED.

It does the same on my office pc and on the clients pc at home.

correct, same here.

Reinstall USB 2.0 driver?

Is it happening on all your USB ports or just the front few?

well on my pc only the back ones work and i have a hub in which i plug my usb stuff into and thats giving me the problems.

i have no idea how these things work so where do i get USB 2.0 drivers to install on my pc?

Try plugging your mp4 player directly into its own USB port. Some USB hubs cannot the power requirements of all the devices simultaneously.

is it possible that the mp4 has too much on it to actually open up? i mean if it needs lets say 2 mb to run and there are no mb left on it can that cause it not to work?

I had a similar problem :(
My solution was: Pull out your power cable from your PC for 30mins. DONT JUST TURN OFF. There must be no power going to your motherboard(except internal battery).
That fixed it for me, but could have been a coincidence?

ha ha i know, the thing is i just plugged the mp4 into my wifes laptop and it never even showed up on it whatsoever.

Try loading latest Pc Suite, open it, then connect phone. Common error people make.

could be the port is faulty, unrecognised device can be on the D- and + wires (the two center connectors) have a good look with a magnifying glass - do the ports work when a memory stick is inserted ?
