USB to Serial on Sierra

Hi

Does anyone know how to go about adding a USB to Seiral connection in OSX?

When I go into the application, all I see is Bluetooth options.

You need to get the driver from the manufacturer. Once that is installed you will see it appear in a terminal emulator (MacWise or Parley)

Well in this instance it is a 3d Printer, called a Prusa i3

I have looked on their website, and downloaded the Mac OSX ZIP which SAYS that there are drivers in there.... but I see none???

In all cases I have downloaded a .dmg package from the vendor, and I ran that to install the drivers.
I presently have all manner of serial cables running on my Mac.
Which USB-To-Serial chip is used on the printer? If you can tell me that I can show you where to get the drivers

Thing is, none of them are DMG packages. They all seem to be standalone files that don't require installation.

There was another driver that I installed and that gave me the optiob to use the USB-Serial but we are getting some weird communication issues. Printing stopping and starting mid-way.

The printer is a Prusa i3 MK1, not the MK2.

OK, so from your post I gather you established its using a USB-TO-SERIAL chip somewhere?
If you can tell us which one it is (PL2303, FT232, etc) we can help you

pretty sure its PL2303 but I have no way of confirming...

I tried the below, and it would appear to be connecting fine

I'm not a OSX person, so everything seems a bit weird!

Rather install the official Prolific drivers, then the issues will be less.
I have all these drivers installed as a matter of course on my Macbook... because need them for USB-to-serial cables when I need to configure Cisco routers, HP Procurve switches, etc..

Hi, just wanted say thanks for the assistance. Got the printer connected and working fine

having some other issues but that is for the 3d printer thread
