I've thinking about voting for them but I have this sneaking suspicion that looking back on my choice a few years down the line it's going to be like someone having bought those MC Hammer pants; "a good idea at the item"

Why does COPE suddenly want everything to change?
They were all in positions of power in the ANC and had the ability to change things, so why didn't they?
What on earth makes them think people will believe they're going to make it happen now when they've had 14 years to do it and have just fscked it up?

If the COPE means the ANC will not have two-thirds majority, then I support them. Criticizing everyone and everything will not turn this into a better country. Unless of course you want the country to collapse so you can have more reason to moan and complain.

Has COPE actually published any policy documents? I would really like to know what the basic differences between COPE and the ANC are, other than a huge chip on each of their shoulders for being kicked out of the ANC.

"Comrades" ...

When are these morons going to get away from their hideous communist terminology?
I'm not your Comrade, now shut up.

I have to admit, as someone that is considering voting for them, that the Comrade thing also leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

It seems as though the COPE leadership is considering getting rid of the "comrade"

He read delegates extracts from a letter he'd received that asked whether COPE was connected to the SA Communist Party, because people called each other comrade.

Lekota explained that the letter-writer wanted to join the party, but believed "comrade" to be "a communist expression".

Leaving the question with delegates "for debate", Lekota pointed out that the dictionary defined "comrade" as someone who "shares one's activities", as well as a socialist or communist.

There you go putting words into my mouth yet again. Maybe read my posts again. The ANC and COPE are no different. Same crowd only now, COPE started up because they were being removed from their key positions which they thought they would have until they died. Yes, if you vote for COPE you are stupid. They are the people, some of them at least, that put SA in the mess it is in and now what? You think they going to change all of a sudden? Well then if you believe that......
Lekota and his crew are just upset after Polokwane as they are not as powerful as they used to be and there is no place for them in the new ANC.

Competition? Thats where you dont seem to understand what is happening. Same crowd that put us where we are today with no effective SAPS, army, medical, etc etc. Competition is any other party that has different policies. If they have the same policies it is not competition now is it ?
Maybe you need to go and look at the bigger picture.
This is about a couple of guys getting kicked off their perches and now will do anything to cling to power.
