I am a consultant (filling the role of a Technical Solutions Architect) at one of the largest corporate companies in South Africa. I am also a partner at a Development House.

Who is ultimately responsible? Deloitte or the Government department who hired them?
 
OP, you need to look at this as an opportunity to write a better application/website for the company...

In your bigger companies devs aren't going to have any say in what tech gets used.

They will be told what to do and that will be the end of the story.

You are a partner at a development house (which may or may not be a competitor to Deloitte) so it seems like you just taking shots a another development house, by naming Deloitte in this thread. That's my perception here.

In reality a government will have a very broad spec. It looks like the dev has a narrow skill profile and is sticking to that.

Agreed that Tech could be decided by people other than the developer. However, you can still make it work with basic HTML.

Yeah - that's a very good point.

Here's hoping your MyBB account isn't easily linked back to your IRL Polemus - I would imagine that would be quite damaging to ones career.

Hehehe, now that you mention it, it might seem like it, however i am not mentioning our name nor am i posting any info about us here. But like the rest, you are avoiding the issue at hand, which is poor quality of work, instead you you are trying to justify their incompetence by finding fault in me.

I think your anger is a bit misplaced here. Remember: their software their rules. However you should be angry at the people that force you to use the software.

So just to set things straight.

My wife has told the institution that she volenteers at, that they should get a tech out to downgrade to IE 10.

I am not pissed off at any company in particular, be it government or private, i am pissed off about poor quality of work.

Any self respecting developer / programmer would be able to support at least more than one browser.

If you have something to say regarding the topic of sofware quality, then great, if you are trolling and trying to find hidden messages, then go troll somewhere else.

- However, i can say that we are non-profit, sponsoring community solutions. we are not in the market to find work, we help other NPO's with solutions, at no cost.
