Posting here gets a great response.
\o/ YAY! \o/ That's good news, a light at the end of the tunnel. So I'm gonna try it here as well.
/me knocks at the microphone: Hello, hello? This thing on?
Was upgraded to 10 MB, got a realistic 8 MB, life was great, everything just wonderful. The connection seemed to be like almost worth its expensive price. Then suddenly, mid October, speed goes down. Particularly the upload tests with 0.43 MB all around. Local test: 0.43. Europe test: 0.43. USA test: 0.43. If you're an online gamer you know how deadly a low upload speed is.
Been thru the 0800-375 375 hell back and forth, had a whole collection of techies at my house (need to buy an album soon, where I can glue the guys in), no-one could really help. At least they all got to the same conclusion: the problem is not on my side but a network problem at the exchange. Seems in our suburb they have like 20something odd Dslams but only 1 of them has high speed capacities. And that Dslam is totaly overcrowded and therefor causes lots of probs. Now one techie told me the money for upgrading is there, readily budgeted and available. Only the managers refuse to spend it. Techies are angry as well, cause they have to go out and face angry customers each day, buffering between customer and management.
So here's my quest..., uh no, my demand: Telkom, it can't be that in one of the fastest growing urban areas of SA (Cape Town/Bloubergrandt) we only have one (1) dslam (Table View-9) up to the job. Install more, newer, better hardware! And do it soon! By the time 10MB really works throughout most areas, the rest of the world will be on 1000000 MB speed. Don't sit on your high monopoly horse and *** on our heads! You spend lots of money for fancy office buildings and TV ads, now spend some money to finally be able to deliver the promised WORLD CLASS NETWORK!!! And please, for (fill in deity of your choice) sake, don't let me hassle with any unclued Unhelp Center Agents anymore! They just close the case so the next operator can claim I've never complained before.
Maybe let some guys from your billing department run the network, these guys are ultra reliabe, like clockwork really.
Hello hello??? Anyone listening?
Thanks for your kindly faked attention
