User Tagging Enabled on MyBroadband

MyBroadband has enabled user tagging in the forum, which allows you to mention other members in a post by using the @ sign. (Example: [MENTION=16882]username[/MENTION] ).

A link to the username will automatically be created, and the user who was mentioned will be alerted that they have been mentioned.

You can change the User Tagging notification settings in your UserCP - https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/usertag.php?do=profile&action=options
 
Thanks - nice addition to the forum.
 
[MENTION=1]rpm[/MENTION] would be nice for a popup list to appear as you're typing someone's name. Similar to the one when you're doing a forum search :)
 
Already had this through Tapatalk, but nice to see it implemented properly. Reply notifications outside Tapatalk are the best new addition. So incredibly useful and the one thing that was desperately missing from this forum.

What's next? Snazzy new forum skins? ;)

No idea - Marius is testing it now. I think the two systems do not interact at all, so the one should not influence the other.

Going forward I don't think there's a difference, but for a while today there was a bar between the header and thread that allowed you to tag users. Presumably to draw their attention to the thread in general. Guess they figured (correctly) that no one would use it.

Can't be, because being quoted doesn't increase your mention count in your profile to the left.
 
^^^ Ah ok - you're both correct. I hadn't looked at the CP properly. See you need to add your own tags in. Can't imagine ever using that.
