Users snap up uncapped ADSL

Yup, and if DOTCO then decides that the max is 1MB, then that's just the way it goes.
But, at least they give you the option to opt-out.

<E>Good point HaRtH, force the buggers to comply with common law, and still give you unlimited access.</E>

You'll notice it's also not like you get 56K international, once you get capped you're only allowed 56K LOCAL, your international is either going to be capped ala SAIX or nonexistant (pretty much the same thing)... at least with a 3GB account you can go full speed local.

Just for interest sakes, my calcs might be wrong but:

128kpbs = 460800 kbits p/hr = 56.25 MBytes p/hr.
256kbps = 921600 kbits p/hr = 112.5 MBytes p/hr

Now assuming you download like a mofo, a month = 30 days = 720 hours.
Further assuming you actually ever GET those speeds for the entire 720 hours [highly unlikely i'd say]

Max you can download :
128 kbps = 40 GB
256 kbps = 80 GB
384 kpbs = 122 GB
512 kpbs = 162 GB

Anyway i don't really have a point. I assume the real point of the thread is that they are changing contracts 'on the fly' , to make matters worse it's their 'entire ad campaign' that are being affected..."[Almost Never] all you can eat? " That's rather funny.

PS Combining enough 'downtime' + 'some heavy slowdowns during peak hours' + 'contention ratios' you can sell a service under the guise "unlimited ADSL/Wireless" because the users will never reach the 'real' cap [i.e. 30GB] imposed on the ISP. And if the user actually DO reach that cap somehow, he is mysteriously throttled to a very slow speed. Your response to the user of course will probably be something like "engineers are doing maintenance on a tower in your area". This is starting to sound like a pretty nice business plan..wait...maybe someone is using it already? Makes me wonder.

30GB aint that much. In the beginning, I managed that on my piddly little 128kbps Sentech modem with ease. But in any event it is better than 3GB. Still not uncapped though.
