The last few years Cell C seems to be going backwards and they have limited phones available for upgrades, so I'm thinking of going over to Telkom.
So how is their coverage? Good everywhere in SA? Any potential problems I should know off? We had a contract or two for tablets and data for the kids over the years and no real problems with that. Just never used their network for mobile calls etc.

Any advice would be appreciated. Just don't want to move and sit for the next two years with reception problems or dropped calls etc. I don't care much for the data reception or speed, I don't spend my life on WhatsApp, just calling and receiving calls is the issue.

Telkom has a roaming agreement with Vodacom.

My sister is on Vodacom and she has worse reception than her daughters who are on Telkom Mobile because there are a few buildings that interfere with the Vodacom signal but that are close to a Telkom tower.

They mostly use WhatsApp for calls which uses data. Basic phone technology has also moved towards routing calls over data e.g. VoLTE
