USP product query (Linkqnet?)

Hi all,
I received a UPS unit (a prize won in a national competition) - LINKQNET 800VA - and I'm baffled.
Can anyone tell me:
- what purpose this serves as the output plugs are 3-pronged irregular hexagonal - the type that was used on home printers 15yrs ago.
- who are the local manufacturers/importers/agents for the brand LINKQNET?
Any assistance appreciated.

Those are usually referred to as IEC connectors and are common with UPS and power distribution equipment as these devices are intended to be used with computer equipment.

You can basically get the plug/leads/adapters all over. Takealot, Scoop, Communica, Micro Robotics and loads of other places and computer shops

Why do they allow these items to be sold in this market with non-standard fittings?

As mentioned in a previous post,IEC connectors are based on an International standard and therefore are mostly recognised internationally. They are not non-standard!
South Africa is a member of the IEC.

They're not non-standard, quite the opposite. They have the appropriate connectors for the job they were designed for.

You can get a UPS like this with regular plug sockets but you will just have to check the specs when buying them.
