So congratulations to vodacom for finally charging customers to browse on Vlive how ever what if a customer subscribes to TV R59.00 pm and he has less than the required R1 in his account he cannot access his TV well thought!

When you use the internet on your cell phone in this case he uses vodafone live it used to be free to browse download ect. your now charged to download and to browse however if you choose to subscribe to mobile TV on Vodafone live you pay R59.00 pm if you get halfway through the month and you have R0.98c in your account you can not even logonto Vodafone live.
 
So you're saying you need to pay bandwidth costs JUST to access VLive services and then STILL need to pay a subscription fee [to the same company] for USING it as well ?

Could you watch tv without paying bandwidth costs before? Or how did that work?

Sounds like catch 22.

That's like MNet saying you can watch MNet via the web and you pay R200 p/month for this service. You STILL however need to pay for the bandwidth to watch the tv [which is far more expensive]. Obviously it's not MNet's problem as they are not ISPs, but in Vodacom/Vodafones case i would think some sort of common ground can be reached? Surely there is no way i am paying R60 p/m just to "access" BBC AND still pay say R2 p/MB on top of that...

It used to work like this you would go buy a vodafone live phone from your Vodashop, Vodacom 4u store and the have the vlive APN activated on to your phone.
you could the access vlive as your home page giving you the latest games pics tones ect, then mobile Tv was launched and you could watch BBC live free for the first 6 months they then brought out a whole bunch of new cahnnels "yippy" @ R59.00 pm for the first few months log on free just pay the R59.00 pm to watch T.V or browse till you drop.

Near to the End of last month Vodacom now say that you need R1.00 in your account to log on.
 
well, i said, just the other day to one of my mates who use the service, what happens now? And i bet voda wont know either...
 
OK, I get the point (!).

When you connect to any apn (including Vlive) you can go onto the internet and will then obviously get charged. The way the system works is to first 'reserve' an amount of money before you can go 'off-net' and the minimum for this is R1.

The end-result of this is that the system won't allow you to connect when your balance is less than R1.

I hear what you say about paying for a service upfront, but even then the R1 rule applies. I've mentioned your comments to the product guys, btw.
 
failed pay per view

This week i tried a pay per view channel on Vlive. It came up with an error message saying something to the effect that service was unavailable and please try again later. I was however still charged the fee for 1 minute (R4). For each person individually with such a failed attempt it doesn't seem much, but on Vodacom's side it must be adding up:rolleyes:

Edit: Sorry. When i tried that pay per view again, it went straight through without the purchase process. So, obviously VC do have contingencies in place with regards to errors. My apologies for the above.:D

@V3G its all fine, But i think, the right way to do it, would be to place the limit if you try to go off net, and should not have a limit as to when you can access vlive portal, Which is probably how it was meant to be, and how you see it too, just wanna make sure we all understand one another
