Hi all,
I have a Win 2003 server SP2 running at home with a Neotel Prime connection. The Neotel phone is plugged into the server box with USB and then shared under Routing and Remote Access as a Dial-on-demand connection.
My pain is - the connection is extremely unreliable. Every couple of minutes it dies - no more data comes through. It then gets disconnected (not sure whether remotely by Neotel or by my box) and then re-connects after a few tries. This works fine, but make browsing, downloads and exchange-email a painful affair.
I've gotten the idea to use my old E220 modem with a Vodacom SIM as a secondary connection to keep things alive until the Neotel connection reconnects. Would this be possible? Can you prioritise connections in Win 2003 server to send data only over a secondary dial-on-demand when the first one has no response, and then resume when the first one comes back?
I am able to create a standard dial-up connection with the E220 on the server and my 3G connects, but when I want to add another dial-on-demand connection, only the Neotel modem is shown as available modems... Why would this be?
