V3G, Your input on this idea?

"Possible new Vodacom Product - Add your Vote!"
Insufficiently descriptive - needs to be specific about what the product idea is.

WRT a poll, suggestions required for poll options - a summary so far of different options that have been posted - there is a max limit of 10 options.

Hey V3G, dont take so personally bud.
It would be a sad day indeed when Vodacom simply churns out a thousand money making traps for the uninitiated to fall into.;)

Seriously though, I have had my say here and on a personal level I have had you sort out some personal hassles Ive had with Vodacom.
For that I thank you once again.

We are currently implementing the option A with limited rollover 3G data at the office as we felt it would be the better option after reading about it here. Its one little instance but your efforts are not in vain. Cheers.;)

No, not 13, just enjoy emoticons..:D:D

haha! Which one of you bastards made a new username to try to piss v3g off? :D

Got no problem with teenagers per se. Have a big problem with people of any age who act like teenagers. Like the threatening and insulting PM's I got from tweenlovechild.

But then the size of his privates seems to match his cranium capability.....

I also support a new thread with a poll.

*thinking out aloud*

why not link this ftp / private / shared / download space to each users mailbox. that way you already have 1gb allocated to you and then if you want more space , pay RXXX per gigabyte and so on (if this has'nt been considered before) since the space and platform already exists for the email and should'nt matter too much for other storage use.

What about.....

Along the lines of option C - a 'local-only' or 'on-net' APN that is charged at a reduced rate.

Then the file server can be built without any integration into any provisioning platforms. It becomes a service only available to users on the network and the user is free to use either their standard data bundles or cheaper 'local-only' bandwidth to access the service.

A 'local-only' APN would also be a solution for a number of other needs just like the 'local-only' products in the DSL space. VodacomBusiness must be getting close to be able to handle the peering requirements to get this to work - no?

Sorry, I've been gone a bit on business.

Should I create a poll thread?
Dunno if i even can...

I like your idea, but it has a shortcoming. - the chicken and egg theory.

Nobody is going to subscribe to this unless there are other files out there to benifit from.... and if nobody uses it, there won't be any files.

It will take a long time to build up....

I'd say either:

a) Make it free, and benifit from a quickly growing Vodacom userbase (Cause if it's free, it will grow VERY, VERY quickly, and this will attract users)

or

b) Uploading is free for Anyone on Vodacom, but downloading it back costs you (at the reduced rate you are talking about)

hope that makes sense... :o
