Vaal Dam levels

The catchment areas take days to drain. The inflow will tail off over a couple of days, but there's enough water coming to fill the dam.
It'll be over 90 by end of day today I reckon.

Sadly, we'll only find out tomorrow. Would have been nice to have some form of live reading.

lol, would have expected a live stream of the dam wall by now.

No pun intended? ;)

In reality the level is moving up quite slowly, a meter per day, wouldn't be much fun to stream. Would be awesome to watch the sluices being opened though

Yep, they forecast heavy rain and flooding in Gauteng and in the NE provinces.

If this rain is going to fall into dam catchments above then it will more than likely be 100% within the next few days.

Any drought activist who would like to explain why water restrictions and water shedding are still in effect in Gauteng?

Because it's not a supply shortage. It's an infrastructure issue.

Because if we have drought again next summer, we want to have as much water as possible.

Prevention is better than cure.

Many ekurhuleni residents are feeling the effects of their meters being read a week or two after a month has lapsed. Finding then that they have exceeded their allotted quota (before penalties). ekurhuleni apparently hasn't been shy to slap penalties for going over a certain amount of kiloliters oblivious to the fact that they are reading meters 35 or 40 days after their last reading. I'd guess the restrictions are still in place for profit.

Doesn't matter how quickly you fill a coffee cup - If 3 people need to drink from it, there will never be enough.
