Vaal Dam levels

I was panicking even more when it reached 25%.

I sailed on it at 14%, so no panic here. I was also looking at a full vaal dam's worth of water stored in Sterkfontein... Only worry was that the valves were rusted shut or something...

What I meant was, since rain is never guaranteed, who knew how bad it was gonna get.

Anyway, updated prediction of 93%:
FFDamGraph.aspx

Fri 24 Feb. Vaal Dam Level 21.56m. Full 88.48%. Inflow 1246.8m3/s. Discharge 14.17m3/s. River Valves Open 1X100% 1X50%. Gates Open 0.

Flow from Grootdraai into Vaal was shut off for about 12 hours but i see its full again. Probably get another nice inflow into Vaal.

Rumour has it two sluices at the vaal will be opened on sunday

Stupid question - but shouldn't Rand Water now be asking us all to use as much water as possible, to monetize the overflow? Rather take advantage an earn some extra revenue and upgrade our infrastructure than let it run into the ocean.

Rand Water can't provide enough water, hence the restrictions.

Are you saying, the past drought was an welcomed excuse for the idiots in charge? If so, what excuse are they going to use now?

That's what I'm saying.

I fully expect them to come back saying that we're a water scarce nation and thus level 2 restrictions will be in place forever
