Value of a G5?

Someone brought a G5 here they want to sell.

Any idea what the value of this thing is?

Just the box and a keyboard.

PowerMac G5
Identifier powerMac 7.3

Processor: PowerPC G5 (2.2) (2GHz)
2GB RAM
64meg Geforce FX 5200
160GB Hard drive

Has licensed Microsoft office 2008 and Adobe PS 4
 
$45 million to $70 million
That's if you buy the jet as well

Lovely machine. I'd buy it just for nostalgia but, and this is the thing, that particular machine has two problems. Firstly, it is the last of the PPC/G series processors. After those, Apple switched to Intel. Second, and perhaps more serious, is that range of G5 desktops all suffered from the bulging capacitors problem.

The CS4 would be worth having if it included the installers. Without these, it is an activation and not a license.

G5 has value outside of age considerations. The worth of something is not the evaluation but what someone is prepared to pay for it. Loads of agencies have designers that are (for whatever stupid reason) still stuck on Freehand. When Adobe bought Macromedia, they mothballed Freehand. That is one of the last machines that will run Freehand smoothly.

Apples don't easily fall apart either. I have a first generation G4 MacMini - it still works a treat and has nothing wrong with it. Makes for a beautiful TV centre. That G5 case will do the same. Hell, the chassis alone is beautiful.

If you are keeping it for legacy purposes, then I guess someone will spend money on it.

My 5yo daughter has annexed my computer for paint and other things...

I needed something to be able to use for interwebs this December :)

She is getting my 20" CRT screen though, I want my lcd back.

LOL, also not been updated since 2011, about 800meg downloads on the go.
