Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

I see more people are leaving the project.

Oh well, just requested a refund. See how this turns out going on previous round with doom de's dac saga vs the people and their refunds.

I don't think them losing Cara Ellison will impact Bloodlines II any more than losing Ka'ai Cluney. Ellison took up a position with another dev. Personally I believe a lot is being overexaggerated with Bloodlines II since Cluney’s departure. Alexandre Mandryka which took over have the pedigree.

I have seen earlier how the Steam peeps cry about the title’s DLC now being an issue, what issue? People, especially with internet, tend to sensationalise their own issues with everyone else online.

Yes, losing Cluney was a loss, but Paradox have drawn in a suitable replacement.

Since Private Division's low with Disintegration, a game which literally disintegrated, they seem to have raised the stakes with the dev houses they are working with, this seems where all the creative writers are heading to.

For Paradox, I am sure they will want Bloodlines II to be a success. At least it won't be competing with Cyberpunk at launch.

Yeah I suppose so, but from my point of view the "R500" that went there can now be spent on the "R500" for outer worlds, while I keep another "R500" in reserve for when it comes if it comes and if it is actually good.

I'm actually surprised that steam issues the refund without questions within 60 minutes. I guess that doom de dac was just one of those edge cases, but still.

OT, but I can't help it seeing it on steam. I guess I should finally play it after having backed/followed it's development?

(having good chuckle at all those gold fonts of excellence)

100%

As long as the consumer is able to vote with their they will enable competition. Now in Paradox’s case, Bloodlines II is now competing with The Outer Worlds.

Paradox moet beter hulle sokkies optrek.

Not to mention, The Outer Worlds was published by Private Division. BTW, the DLC is worth it.

Paradox pulls Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 from dev, cans pre-orders

Let that sink in.

Paradox has pulled development of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 from Hardsuit Labs, delayed the game indefinitely and cancelled new pre-orders.

In a statement, Paradox said "in order to meet our goals for it, we've come to the conclusion that a change is needed and, as a result, more development time is required".

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 will now not release in 2021 as planned. Paradox said it has signed a new developer to pick up development duties, but it sounds like the wait for the game could be a long one.

Wow.

Wow indeed. There's trouble brewing in the gaming industry. Perhaps we're overdue for another industry crash.

As it stands, the game isn’t cancelled yet, but many people now want their money back and I see there are issues. People are struggling to process via Steam, people with collector edition pre-orders ($250) are having issues, or so people say. I doubt Paradox would make a decision like this and be assholes regarding pre-orders.

From what I am gathering, the issues are mainly with Hardsuit Labs and Paradox does not seem happy with their 33% stake they have acquired in Hardsuit Labs in 2018. Now they have an unannounced new developer which they don't want to be named. Paradox has like 9 studios with a stake or complete ownership in 8 others, but most and I believe only Hardsuit Labs specialises in 1st person games.

Paradox also have their ‘AGM’ next month, and I believe they are likely to announce the new developer then and there is a rumour that they may have sourced an external developer which may also be a publisher. I doubt that Paradox will scrap the current development, but bringing in a new developer will overhaul almost everything, including the creative aspect. The game is using Unreal Engine so nothing propriety which may limit their developer options.

This game will either be doomed, which is most likely the case, or saved spectacularly.

Want to take a R489 bet on something that is going to cost you R1300? I took that bet with Metro Exodus and it paid off.

Win? Glad I did this rather than yet another wait and see refund process as per gog and cyberjunk 2077

They should go with CDPR of course :ROFL:

Now it is all pending on who Paradox appointed as developer. My best guess is that they went with Harebrained Schemes as they have experience in RPG based games, but Paradox will need to pour resources into this studio and expand the team.

Bloodlines 2 is likely to release in late 2022 or even in 2023. I am glad they didn’t see it through with Hardsuit Labs as there is something that is reeking there.

At least Bloodlines 2 won’t have to compete against CP2077 to take the 2021 GOTY crown.

Just wait until CDPR cancel the DLC and announce next month that they will rather work on a Cyberpunk V2 and release the game as promised. Meanwhile, they are working on The Witcher 4 because they knew Cyberpunk in the condition which it is will be wasting their time and money. Then like Anthem V2, culled.

Cyberpunk 2077 v1.91 (RED Edition)

Not really "too" convincing looking at1614370099510.png

I wouldn't be too suprised.

It is the only studio under their label which has experience in RPG, unless they did source a third-party developer which may be the reason they haven't named the studio as they may have outstanding negotiations. Paradox could also pull a big one by partnering with another publisher, exposure would mean a lot under the circumstances.

Bloodlines 2 was incredibly well-received on announcement, they need that hype back. Who knows maybe they are pursuing those who departed Hardsuit Labs or was let go by Hardsuit Labs.

So it was a small studio that got a break and managed to stuff it up....

Hardsuit Labs, their story is told here,

The project should just be buried.
Very disappointing, but when a game gets tossed around between developers the outcome is never good.

Rather release a bad new I.P than destroy the reputation of a good one.
