I cannot see that Altech will win this case. If they do, then it means every tom dick and harry will rush out there and try build a microwave network. can you imagine the spectrum chaos? it will be another gold rush scenario. Then again, maybe not, and it will be a revolution? who knows? wait till next week![]()
If they get this, we'll be driving over semi-filled fibre trenches for the rest of our lives. I suppose it can aptly be called a "speed"-bump.
Sigh. They can't use spectrum they haven't been given.
What makes you think they'll all want spectrum anyway? I think they'll start laying fibre.
And not all of them either. It's flippen expensive to lay fibre over the whole country. Only the big boys will. Maybe a few of the smaller guys will get bought by overseas companies that'll use their license to self provide.
Yep, I agree with you both, besides !CASA has publicised its 'state-of-the-art' on-the-move spectrum abuser detection vehicles which !CASA is supposed to be using to weed out and shut down and confiscate any wireless equipment that is being used without the necessary license, so there really isn't any danger of the entire country's communications grinding to an interference halt as suggested by Rabbit7766:some sense...Sigh. They can't use spectrum they haven't been given.

hundreds of VANS clogging the airwaves and digging up the roads
is just pure bs...i really do not believe there will be this dramatic effect and slippery slope to chaos that ICASA and the Minister would have
net effect of the recognition of the right to self-provide will actually be very small
The microwave links that are used [e.g. by the cellular networks for base-stations where Telkodemonopolies doesn't provide wired fixed line backhaul] are highly directional point-to-point microwave links, which means that many companies can actually use the same spectrum and avoid interference by simply not pointing their transceiver(s) at another company's transceiver(s).I cannot see that Altech will win this case. Nope, I completely disagree with you there, you're falling for Poison Ivy's and Paris Mashile's scaremongering. If they get this, we'll be driving over semi-filled fibre trenches for the rest of our lives. I suppose it can aptly be called a "speed"-bump.
What's "unfortunate" is that Poison Ivy is still the "minister" of communication 4 years later.
