Vegetable gardens

Thanks!

I like to plant "weird" stuff you don't get easily! Like the strawberry popcorn etc. I tried coffee beans once, but the seeds I got was terrible...it looked like old lightly roasted ones lol (this was from the other online store) But I think I will give Living Seeds a try!

I also put some strawberry popcorn in the ground this past weekend! Can't wait for that harvest!

Thinking of putting in another planter.Winter was very kind to my plants

Very nice. If that's mint in the corner suggest you take it out before it takes over. Perhaps put it in a separate container.

Yeah it is, I'm planning to get another planter and move some across. It struggles in summer but loves winter

Lost 2 rows of lettuce seedlings and a beetroot over the weekend :wtf:

lettuce seedlings should be planted out very early or when the sun sets. Better to direct seed thr beet.

Spent a good hour creating a new patch and moving some of my over zealous cabbage seedlings to the patch. Still expect a lot of the others to die off but these have been layed out neatly in rows , about 12 of them. Still about 40-50 all in a different patch and took about 8 to put in seedling tray and see how they do.

How's everyones moisture? Our environment is very moist evenings and mornings now, my soil is so soft some of our plants are uprooting themselves. Had a rose bush fall over this last weekend.

Gentlemen,

I want to set up irrigation for my raised beds.

I have 4 raised beds with 8 squares in each. I'm thinking of running a thick pipe in the middle of the bed, with 8 drippers going out of it. Something like in the image.

Do you reckon it will be effective? What would I need to build something like this?

Overhead hand watering will always be beeter suited for the home gardener, but thats not to say drip won't work. For a bed that is 1meter wide i would recommend 4/5 long drips across the bed spaced 20cm wide. It really depends on what you want to grow and how close you space it,also this is the way farmers do it,

The 4 pipes are connected with another small piece of of pipe at the end,and then all 4 pipes get couplers at the end going into the smaller pipe. You should get a timer for the drip also to water on it's own.

There's plenty of info out there, but that is the way to go,and is the most effective in my opinion.
