I need vehicle insurance for my car, I've never had insurance before but Thursday I'm going on my first long trip with the car and would like it insured for just in case.

Here's the basic idea behind it: 3rd party, theft and maybe fire insurance. Road side assistance would be nice too.

Car: 1988 VW Fox, almost 300 000km on the clock.

What's the best company to go with for young adult males? What info can you people give me? Any recommendations would be nice. Just give me all the details you can please.

Thanks mybb :D

lol ok i will be more friendly.

STOP BEING AN IDJIT :p

pls get insurance already, it really makes no difference if you generally only do short trips etc, it is called an accident for a reason!

comprehensive insurance on your car really will not cost a lot, but at least 3rd party.

What will you do if you drive into a R800k merc tomorrow?
What will you do if you write off your car and now dont have a car to drive around in and no insurance payout for at least a deposit?

I will pm you the details of a broker in KZN.

+1

Or you can try using hippo.co.za to get a rough idea of what you can expect to pay

I'm still trying to get money out of the d**s that wrote off my c200k almost 2 years ago, he never had insurance either, and it happened about 50metres from my house ...

+1. Hippo should be your first stop, to get a general idea on pricing for your particular vehicle and risk profile. If you're under 25, I feel sorry for you - they're gonna milk you.

Besides Hippo, check out Hollard PayAsYouDrive (pay per KM) and Discovery Insure VitalityDrive (benefits are great if you're already a Disovery Health / Vitality / Card customer).

And yes, you need to take out insurance for good, not on a per trip basis. That is just stupid, and pointless. You rather stay without insurance, as the risk is the same. All or nothing. There's no middle line with insurance.

you want to insure a car the same age as yourself. i would not advise you to get insurance with that piece of *****.
I drive a '99 Audi A3 and i don't have insurance. I don't drive like a maniac. rather put the money into a savings account when you will need it.

erm

I agree that compehensive insurance might not be necessary but definately 3rd party... for the reasons others have said.
