Verdict on Axxess Uncapped Express+ 384k?

I used it for 2 months and had 2 real issues with it:

1) They regularly forgot to unshape me after 8pm which resulted in me having to call them to manually do it. After a while they told me they could no longer do that. So ye online gaming went to **** and I couldn't torrent.

2) Downloaded 620GB worth of torrents and got sent a threatening letter stating I would be banned and prosecuted for piracy etc etc. Ye because the people averaging 900GB a month are clearly not doing p2p stuff at all. This double standard pissed me off a lot.

If they've addressed the first issue and you're prepared to shell out more money for Usenet account then by all means go for it imo. I kind realized after 2 months of ~600GB downloads that you actually do run out of crap to download and shelling out R999 a month is pricey.

Been with them since June 2009. Best move I made joining Axxess (no I do not work for them nor do I get any freebies :p)

Whats nice about Axxess is - there are no contracts. I would give it a try and see if it meets your expectations. I am sure you will be surprised. I don't play a lot of online games, although I did try it when I signed up. I was able to play COD4 at 300-350ms no problem.

As for the downloading, now that's expensive ;) Be prepared to spend some money on bigger hard drives :D :D: :D

Axxess Express Fibre+ 384 FTW!!!

Yeah been with them for 4 months. Only had the issue of not being unthrottled once, and that was an IS issue. It's all automated so there shouldn't be many issues like that.

From 7pm - 8am the next day you can download at 440KB a second. Thats 13 hours at that speed which is about 20GB over night. 2 nights of downloading like that and it's already become cheaper than AfriHost if you had to pay R29 a GB. Friday 7pm - Monday 8am is also unthrottled.

Take it...Even if you not happy, you can cancel without any issues after giving 1 months notice. But I promise you, from one safa to another, if you love downloading and good download speeds, go with this.

Im at work from the time it gets throttled so by the time I get home and have watched some tv or series its unthrottled.

Very very nice and all.....

but it adds up

4MB Adsl line rental(Telkom) = R413
Phone line rental(Telkom) = R131
Axxess Uncapped Express + = R999

Total = R1 543

that's a lot, even if you earn +R20k a month

I'm a tv series addict like the next guy, but is it really worth it

P.S i do about 80GIG a month

EDIT : and dont forget the USENET account

I would think that all downloading would be throttled during the day - but hey who cares!! :D

Just one other thing that might tip the scales - check this forum out. There are not many Axxess members on this site that are moaning. That must say something

I've had it for a while now too. its not cheap, but works fine for me. speeds in the day are very usable for browsing, emails, and vpn connection to my work. At night it opens up nicely for downloads and more.

As for those warning letters, they are not from axxess. they are infact sent to IS, the owners of the IP block, and then they have to forward it to the reselling ISP, who in turn has to forward it to you. Its proven to be nothing more than a hype, with my opinion firmly fixed that BayTSP and friends sending this out are on a money-making wheel of note with the corps charging them for this silly service.

and for the last month there's really been nothing interesting me so i've hardly pushed over 4GB on the account.

But to be sure I got a utorrent account in the UK, and then FTP stuff to myself.

Never had issues and customer support is spot-on from axxess.

are u cancelling neotel? I kept mine, just moved it to 1GB and use it as a phone.

However last week my dsl was down for 30h from the storms and it came in handy so i wasnt offline and didnt shake from the withdrawl :)

Considering on Neotel i had the Flex 15gb account (this highest u can get) - i ended up paying about R1500 a month doing about 20-25gb. And that was having to really control my behaviour!

So if i consider with this that I pay the same and i get 3000% more.

in this case Axxess Uncapped + is just for u.....

Dude, this is what you need. No caps , no upgrades, no WORRIES. Download to your hearts content!!! And make sure you go 4MB line as well.

The only problem I had, is that while it is a month-to-month account, you have to sign-up for 2 months initially ...

Actually, its a one months notice in order to cancel, so if you cancel at the end of the first month, you'd probably have to take that second month.

However, I wanted to try it for a month. I called the support, they told me to start it on the first day of the month, and on the 1st, call them to cancel, so it'll be one month only. I did that, and they emailed and confirmed.

The connection is amazing. Get a subscription to a usenet server like Astraweb(costs $11 = around R80) I'm gettin +-20 gig a night and much more over weekends. The server uses ssl, so no pesky letters about illegal torrents. Also, youtube streams really nicely and combined with a good youtube downloader like IDM, its wow! IDM uses multiple http streams to max out the connection so on this connection its like 25meg a minute, so instead of even letting the video stream, I just DL a bunch of them at a time.

If you can afford the +-R1500 then go for it. I've found 95% of what I'm looking for on Usenet Newsgroups. Torrents for the other odd old or rare bits.

Enjoy

I loved it only problem I had I ran out of disk space as I was downloading up to 380GB per month!
