Whenever it rains (and normally afterwards), my phone line loses a dial tone completely, my attenuation skyrockets and my noise margin comes down.

I've reported a fault with Telkom, which hasn't been resolved. I'm really just here to ask if this is something that can be resolved by myself or if it's something that Telkom needs to sort out.

I live in Brummeria (which is right next to the CSIR), if it's any help.

Thanks

You cannot fix it. It is either a corroded joint (a.k.a. dry joint) on your Telkom line or a flooded manhole somewhere in your area.

Well, for what it's worth, the problem only shows its head quite a while after the rain starts. Manhole I suppose then?

I had the same problem. Just report it to telkom and keep on until they fix the problem.

I've also had the same problem and in the end Telkom had to replace and relocate the line, the key like bekdik said is that you should post it on their website in addition to calling/faxing them.

Don't just stop at one complaint though, just keep on informing them about the problem. Hopefully that helps!

Thank you all for the replies. I've made a complaint via their website as well as with telephone. I hope this can be resolved by Wednesday at the latest.

Ever since I upgraded to 4mbps, Telkom seems to respond very quickly to my calls.
Well I have had one, and they were very good about it!
