Okay, I've got a serious cooling issue on my MSI ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (128MB AGP 8x). For the first few months, the fan worked great, but then it started slowing down causing cooling issues. Now the fan barely rotates (or rotates really slowly) causing my card to overheat BIG TIME. If I put some Q20 onto the fan it works for like another 2 weeks (spins fast), but it's a really long, slow process.

Buying a new fan would resolve this, but it's finding the fan that is the problem. I think it's a 4/5 cm fan (can someone clarify ?) with only 2 tiny pin holes. Can anybody advise me on where to get one of these things ? They seem rare.

It's a pity, cause it's such an awesome card, it's just got cooling issues that need resolving. It still plays the latest games fine.

Thanks in advance.

Just stick spare 60 or 80mm fan on the heatsink (remove old one first obviously) and that should work quiet well if not better than the standard fan. :)

If you want to spend some money, Zalman makes very good VGA coolers, like the VF-700 or VF-900 series.

Alternative, there are ways to jerry-rig any 80mm fan so that it cools the Radeon's heatsink.

buy a new fan.. why consult us if you know what needs to be done... fork out 3-4 hundred on a cooling system and there you go it will be as cool as i mirowave
