Started today on channel 198 and ends on 15 March 2010.

Some really great tracks for yester-year. Am enjoying it so far.

But does anyone know why its on for 6 weeks only?

It is an experiment or must I just enjoy the limited season of classics?

My guess is that they're testing the market to see if this channel is viable to be added at a later date - to see if there is demand. I very, very seldomly watch MTV, VH1, etc, but I'll check out this channel indeed. I prefer using DMX just for background music.

+1 loving it so far, with some really decent classic tracks - should be permanent under the music bouquet

My folks had it on when we went to them last weekend and I really enjoyed it very much. No commercials at all - just solid hits one after another. Watched it again last night and just enjoyed watching some of those great hits from the 80's.

The reason why I don't want MTV/VH1 is because of the non music video shows as well as the annoying "commercial break" fillers. I hope DSTV adds this channel permanently.

Pity it's only a trial considering all the crap channels they've been adding lately.

How do they know if people are watching it or not is my question? Firstly most people don't know about it seeing it's not with the other channels and you only find it by chance or if someone tells you about it.

I really like this channel, been tuning into it a lot. Maybe we should go and post in the DSTv forum.

I'm fscking tired of rap, hip hop, r&b, soul etc and the brain dead mofos that seems to have infested every channel out there.

what's the difference between this and the other VH1 channel?

There's a Poll on the DSTV forum:

Vote now!! Pity they didn't ask if we didn't want to nuke all those other 'music' channels.

Thanks for the heads up on the url, will register and vote. My only gripe is that it is slotted on a channel noone will associate with music. Most of us will find it by pure chance. :(

what's the difference between this and the other VH1 channel?

This channel appears to focus on classics prior to the "naughties" and there are no current hits that I have seen. So far its more music and very few breaks ... all in all a good channel and makes some of the other new channels thrust on us look

For this one I can only wish it is made permanent. Even my 6 y.o. daughter is enjoying some of the music :D

well anythign with 80s music will always get the thumbs up from me

Will vote as soon as the BOFH lets me.

I also don't have permission on that forum to do anything. Don't really care. It's not like monochoice does anything, or listen to their subscribers.

I could vote/post a day or two after I signed up so all is well now.

I've signed up two years ago. Signed up again after they changed the forum.
Could never post after the second sign-up. Can't even PM a mod for help.

Sadly VH1 Classic is gone from the channel. Worst!!!
