Johannesburg - Two robbers were shot dead by their intended victims in a house in Lenasia South on Friday morning, said Johannesburg police.

Inspector Mpho Kgasoane said the men struck at about 03:00, confronted a couple, their in-laws and five children.

"The men demanded jewellery, money and cellphones," she said.

"The owner of the house and his father-in-law were tied up, while the wife and mother-in-law were taken to the kitchen in an attempt to rape them."

Kgasoane said the home owner untied himself and his father-in-law and they fetched their firearms.

"They shot randomly at the robbers and both died on the scene.

"The father-in-law was accidentally injured by one of the shots and was taken to hospital in a stable condition," she said.

Police were investigating cases of house robbery and murder.

So far the score is 3-0 to the citizens

Turning out to be a very nice long weekend

Excellent! A couple more of these and a couple more township lynchings and the scum may start getting the message: Law-abiding citizen's aren't going to take this ***** anymore.

I think I'm going to look into buying a gun this week.

great news. However, a few more of these, and I bet you there'll be a formal whine of some kind from the Government, (who I believe, dont like the idea of citizens feeling more confident at taking on criminals and succeeding).
They'll probably try and tie it into 'lawlessness' and 'excessive gun-use'...
Lets see..

(I'm all for the utter slaughter of every rapist, killer, mugger, housebreaker - so don't misunderstand me :)
Just aware that it seems to be a chess game with the Government versus the Public.
The Gov have made the society ungovernable - and generally doesn't seem to want
the Public to do anything other than hide fearfully in its homes.

So fill those morgues, Citizens :)

Well it was only a matter of time before people started taken the law into their own hands

Like the minister said "shoot the bastards' and some good came out of it.

I'd agree if every law abiding South African was mentally fit to own a firearm.

You don't suppose a rational person like me would imply that? All South Africans (meeting the criteria) should own a gun and should be encouraged by the government to do so. Trespassers should be shot on sight without question, people have a right to pro-actively with severe force defend themselves.
Where I live there is a man who started to tell me a sob story of how he needs money. I usually respond positively but I was in a hurry and had no cash on me. I told the man to get to his point, as I needed to walk on. He continued on the same trend and I told him, "If you want money, I won't give any to you today". He then started swearing at me and then insulting me as a white person. I walked away though.
Later I was waiting outside for friends, he walked up to me and I told him to back off as I did not feel comfortable with him next to me. I told him that I don't trust him. I moved to the other side of the road. He then came over and told me he would hurt me and that he wasn't afraid of me. Then he accused me of selling Mandrax. I called the Police and he ran off.
The problem is he has threatened my girlfriend before in the same area and I saw him while walking back from the cafe tonight. (She did not want to give him money for nothing (she does not own a car) and he said he would get her when she returned that way). He is one of those people looking after cars. ffs.
I am now forced to carry pepper spray with me as I don't own a gun, I will however spray him immediately if he approaches me. I should have a right to do so but thanks to the ANC, criminals are the victims.
My community now has to wait for him to violently attack someone and then we have a 1/20 chance that he would be caught.

I have a good mind to hire people to mug him and move him to another town.

That really annoys me too. People don't just want money for nothing, they want to take their sweet time telling you why. Another thing which really annoys me is having to say NO three times and then be very firm before they stop nagging. And more often than not they respond with aggression. So WTF are you supposed to do?

excellent - were hearing more and more good stories like this. if your a robber you will be shot dead at some stage!

"They shot randomly at the robbers and both died on the scene.

heheh - i hope they randomly hit them as well before the critical shot.

Just a note : You cannot allow the shooting of trespassers on sight, it means that I can drag you into my front yard and then blow your brains out.

No shooting trespassers on sight means that if I was lurking in your home in the middle of the night, likely with the intent to harm you, you would have a right to defend yourself pro-actively without first having to be shot at or stabbed before you may try and survive by fighting back and it would be likely that by that time you would not have a fair chance.
In South Africa we can all assume that a group of men in your house in the middle of the night are not there to ensure you sleep with all your blankets on in case it is cold.
If I find a man in my house who I do not know, I will do anything in my power to kill him first.
