Victron Multiplus info needed

Im going with a multiplus2 3000

Batteries 2 x 104ah lithium
The number for the multiplus before the 3000 is usually 48 or 24 or something. Which number do I need for my batteries?

Also any helpful info tips or extra gear which would benefit the setup.
 
If your batteries are 48v you'll take the 48v Multiplus.

Same story for the 24.

Just go for 48v.
 
You will also need software and special cable to set the multiplus to lithium batteries
And a ccgx or venus gx

So yes you can buy the inverter for R13k but need to spend another R5k to get it work
Or the new Cerbo GX.

The 24 or 48 references the voltage of your battery bank.
If only using 2 batteries, your voltage is 12 x 2 = 24 V. Four batteries will give you 48V.

TBH, I hope you are not planning on running a 2.4kW load off of 24V. Remember, for a rated load, the lower the voltage, the higher the current. The higher the current, the thicker the cables, and more heat is generated.

Try and go for a 48V inverter. This will also allow you to easily pair a lithium battery later on.

And I have a 48V Multiplus 2 running at home.

Have you bought it already? If not, I strongly suggest looking at at least a 5kVa, to be more future proof. My girlfriend bought our MultiPlus I 48v 3kVa and while it is working very well, we have our domestic here at the moment and it is going in to PowerAssist mode too often for my liking as she uses an oil heater for warmth which we didn't plan for when we were looking at a backup system. Having a 5kVa allows it to handle higher loads using mains electricity which means less use of your batteries ensuring a longer life span.

I presume you are going to use it as a backup system as you haven't mentioned PV? Ours is setup for backup during load shedding, unless load exceeds the inverter capacity in which case it uses battery power via PowerAssist, it has worked flawlessly with the four Omnipower 120ah/12v deep cycle gel hybrid batteries we currently have and lasted the full length of the 6:20 load shedding stint we had this last Saturday. I have sourced 10 CanadianSolar 360w PV panels and am having a consultant/installer do a site visit tomorrow to finalise the installation details which will see the PV panels mounted, Venus GX control unit, 250/70 MPPT solar controller, wiring, fuses, etc, etc. installed and setup as an ESS.

He doesn't say where he lives. Remember in cape town, your embedded generation is restricted by your main breaker size, and a 5KVA isn't allowed.

Because the DA in Cape Town are fascists or something.

Actually doing some reading, it looks like it may be ok to go bigger provided you limit the amount of power you feed in to the grid.

Strange but limiting back feed makes a lot more sense than limiting generation capability, unless you want to limit the population to your rule which is entirely possible.

So im planning on 2 x blue nova lithium 104ah,think theres only one model. victron seems to approve them, and both blue colour is nice. So just to confirm, 2 of those will be fine wih a 48 3000?

To answer the 5k question, im gonna stack em to increase.
I have been researching other cables and shite needed, its a bit setup independent. I will ask this Zeke chap for more info. Right now i want to run it and start to understand it, then go for a bit of solar.

Here is a kit with the Victron Multiplus inverter and 48V Lithium battery

They also have all the addons required to make it all work.

That looks quite decent with the inverter being a Multipluss II 5kVa.
