Video card upgrade for R2k

mate of mine is upgrading and I have no idea what to advise in this price range... :confused:

any suggestions and experiences?

lol with your sig I thought it would be obvious, 5770 or 5750 :D

...yeah that sig cracks me up too.
 
I'm going to be the odd one out here and say either get a low end gtx275 or a 4890 rather than a 5770. Speed>DX11 imo.
 
I'm with cerebus ... get the ATI HD4890 if you can.
 
ok so what about a 5830?

Surely that is quicker than a 4890! :confused:

seems rather retarded to go for a 48xx series when the 58xx series is out... :sick:
 
For r2700 he could get a VTX 5850 from Rory. Now come on... r100 extra for that much additional power. It doesn't make sense. Surely he can scrape the sofa and get it together?
 
lol ok...well how about r2800 for a club3d one? It's still a disproportionately small amount of extra money for a huge amount of extra power. 5830 isn't a bad card but I'm not sure it's priced well.

HD4890, I got mine a few months ago from prophecy for R1949 inc delivery.

They're all the same thing with different stickers fyi (apart from cusotm cooled/custom pcb versions), unless it's a better warranty/guarantee you're willing to pay extra for.
 
The VTX have a 2 year warranty. That's better than a lot of more reputable vendors.
