A new video has emerged which shows the tremendous damage caused by an explosion at Medupi Power Station on Sunday night.

...in my non-expert opinion, and knowing how slow Eskom is to do anything, Unit 4 will be down for the next 9 to 12 months. That is ~800MW taken from the grid for a long while :-(

Looks like a lot longer than that to me, 2-3 years minimum, gotta wait for the parts too.

Depends on the damage for sure. If its a major element like a boiler, turbine or generator its a multi-year repair agreed. If damage is less and restricted to ancillary equipment or roofing only you may get lucky and have it fixed in under a year.

That video doesn't give enough information. For everyone's sake I hope its less damage rather than more
