VIP unit in scuffle with SABC crew

We'll have to wait for the drivers side of the story. But why does the VIP unit want the memory chip? Did SABC film something that contradicts the story from the Presidency?

When are South African motorists going to learn.... stay the heck out of the protection services way..PERIOD.
Pull over if you can or accelerate to get out of their way.
Problem is that there are motorists that sleep behind the wheels of their cars......slow drivers in the fast lane are testiment to the sleepy tunnel vision.
Check your rear view mirror often.
Makes for defensive driving if necessary.
The protection services are a law unto themselves..have always been and will always be.

Flame away......... :-)

Because in the movies they always confiscate the memory chip.

Thanks.

The confiscation of the footage aside they very well may have done the right thing.

This is the Head of State and as such its their job is to protect him. I can see the the secret service in the US - or any other nation for that matter reacting in a similar manner.

People like you drive me Insane.
How dare you state that suppressing the public's right to events involving South African politicians, be the right thing to do?

What's next, arresting journalists who write something that the ruling party doesn't like?

Its typical of South Africans to just bow their heads and say, oh well its okay. The government we pay can do what ever they like to us.

The Right thing to do? If the government had nothing to hide why beat the snot out of a journalist for just doing their job? Why take away any evidence of what happened? Now the only people that can say anything about it are the vile suit wearing bastards that vomit forth the statements that people just lap up and enjoy.

This isn't Hollywood in case you didn't notice. It's a frikkin police state!
Why didn't the SABC go to court to fight for the 'footage' back.

Sometimes I see a dark dark future for this country.

Ok, nobody seems to be commenting on the fact the President Kgalema was not actually IN the motorcade at the time....

Which then begs the question, what the hell were they doing travelling in a convoy, which is technically illegal in this country is it not?

*EDIT* Ok, reread the other story that I'd seen, and he was, just not in the car that was hit.

Wasnt he?
The president, who was unharmed, was on his way back from a funeral and heading towards Pretoria when his motorcade was interrupted by the vehicle.

This morning, eye witnesses on the scene say the driver of the GTI was shot in the arm

Who the fk are they to shoot at people who has just as much right as them being on the road ?

Well it does make sense what you say however these guys dont always travel in convoys for the right reasons, they mostly travel in these convoys to p! ss off the public and cause a nuisance on the roads. If we knew they were not abusing the privilege than it would be a different story.

Whats the first thing after 'Thanks' that I wrote?

Let me save you the effort - "The confiscation of the footage aside they very well may have done the right thing".

Do I really have to explain what that means . . .

How dare you state . . .
So even though you clearly misinterpreted what I said you'd still like to suppress my freedom of speech? Bravo ;)

are you saying members of the public are not dangerous? :D
No, what gave you that impression, pray tell.
hows life in lalaland?

Maybe if the driver had a ski mask and a gun it would not be so bad, I wager he did not!

Apparently its a case of guilty until proven innocent.

So we're moving in circles then...

It was wrong then that is why the people of SA voted for all SA people to have the sae right to vote. Not to have the country turn around 360 degrees to end up where we were when we started

So much for freedom hey...

Unfortunately the ANC learnt from the best.

Its a bit like the Russian Federation at the moment, doing what they were taught :/
