So I currently work in Fourways and commute from Edenvale. I'm looking to move my current membership with Virgin Active Greenstone to either Lonehill or Cedar. I wanted to ask which is the better gym in terms of equipment, space to train and population at early hours of the morning. I haven't had a chance to go and see the gyms due to work. So just wanted some input from the community.

Thanks.

P.S I am with Discovery Vitality and have 18 Months remaining on my Virgin Contract.

If you haven't had a chance to go check out the gyms, why would it matter which one you pick as you won't have the time to go gym either.

I mean, checking it out takes like 5 minute, actually going is at least 30min.

I faced a similar decision between Broadacres and Cedar Square and I went with Broadacres. The weights area, for me, at Cedar was just not acceptable, the plates were old and some of the machines looked in desperate need of some TLC. Access to the gym at Cedar is also a bit annoying as you have to pass shops and restaurants depending on where you park.

This week I started a new job and been working from 08:00 to 17:00. From next week I will be working from 09:00 to 18:00 in order to accommodate an early gym session. I asked because I wanted input mainly from people at those gyms as I am unsure of how busy the gyms are during the morning.

Not sure about morning gym traffic as go evenings..

When I use to go there it was fairly empty. I’d say it depends on the populous around it.. so LoneHill is more of a family gym so very busy mid mornings.

Your single area people gyms like Sunninghill is exceptionally busy early mornings and given traffic past monte in morning I’d think cedar gym would be packed very early mornings.
