Hi guys. Was just looking at the Bluebean Black Card. Seems if you spend R2000.00 or more per month then your monthly fee of R30.00 falls away, so this brings it on par with Virgin Money who also does not charge a monthly fee.

I am struggling to find info on the below though:

1. Do you pay per swipe?
2. Does Bluebean have a 55 day interest free period
3. Do you pay interest on petrol purchases?

Do any of you use the Bluebean card?

By that logic every FNB credit card that supports eBucks is "free" as well.

With Bluebean you just need to spend R2000.00 per month to have your monthly fee voided.

And this is the problem friend. Why be coerced to spend just so you can get a free credit card?

If there was no Virgin Money, then you would have merit in your reasoning.

Did my Bluebean application now for the Black Card and I was preapproved .... but only with R5000.00 limit. I have a nice big limit with Virgin Money, so will keep that card for now just in case.

@Ockie - come on over to the dark side... FNB awaits... there is a decent eBucks thread which allows you to maximise rewards...

Bluebean has about the best free roadside assist on their cards, I keep mine active just for that.

How come?

Turns out they have been charging me for a garage card which I dont have and then when I queried and asked to cancel the garage card that doesnt exist they said they cant and can only cancel everything - so i said cool, cancel all my cards.
This is after they charged me for a garage card then another few hundred for late paying the fees for the card that doesnt exist - they cancelled these charges though when the cards were cancelled.

I get roadside assistance with FNB so don't need them

Dankie meneer. So you have a Bluebean card? Happy with them?

No, I have a VM card, but all CCs will work like that so I could answer your questions.

I have the top of the range AA plan charged annually, so I don't worry about that on petrol cards.

Love my VM card.

virgin money I find give the best rates for international purchases, of which I do quite a few. Still fighting with Standard w@nk corporate card over some of their excess international fee charges.

Jirre .... but trying to get answers out of Bluebean regarding my application is a mission. My application was approved 9 days ago and I emailed them all my docs as per the approval email I got from them once I submitted my app online, and since then nothing ... and when you phone them no one seems to know WTF is going on. The guy I am on the line now with says I have to wait another 14 days. You telling me it takes you almost a month to do a application? Are these people for fcking real?

getting the black bluebean card tomorrow. free per month if u spend R2000.00 or more per month so same as virgin money then. i hope the internet bamking is better than the absa k@k vm still uses.

How anyone remains an ABSA customer is beyond me.

Try changing your beneficiary for the Virgin Card...you can't. You have to log a case with them and provide a print out of proof of new bank details that is certified and a certified ID etc etc.

I'm just emptying out the money sitting there instead.

This changed my mind as I had already saved the fees PDF and was about to sign up. Will stick with my VMCC and their great service. I can live with the basic internet banking portal.

They had system issues with new applications. They told me it has been sorted out now.
