virus removal

hi guys

i have an external hd and it has picked up a virus where all my folders have changed to shortcuts

all my data is still fine and readable so thats a good thing

can anyone tell me how to remove the virus cos i have tried avg scan and nothing comes up

http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro (activate the 30 day trial to remove the malware).

Update malwarebytes first, then scan the hard drive. HitmanPro needs an internet connection as well.

Seen similar issue about a year ago, your actual files' hidden attribute have been set and a array of shortcuts were created that points to a infected .exe.
