So, just booked my tickets to Vietnam. Now to get the Visa (and everything else) sorted out. The travel agent wanted to charge R1800 for them to sort out the visa - way out of my budget.

I came across this site http://www.vietnam-visa.com/, but I'm a little sceptical. Contacting the Vietnamese embassy wasn't very helpful in that regard - they completely ignored the topic. They did however let me know that family in PTA can sort it all out for me seeing as I'm in CT.

Anyone use this site, or another similar? Worth it or not?

Thanks,
Sysem

cost at embassy:

R500 - 15 days stay - Single Entry
R600 - 1 month stay - Single Entry

but you need to deposit it in there account:

Acc name : Embassy of the Socialist Rep. of Vietnam
Bank : FNB
Acc No. : 62243859909
Branch : 251345 Brooklyn

takes about 7 or 8 days to process

in my travel agent days i would use these guys
http://www.visasinternational.co.za/

thy charge service fee not sure how much but doubt its more then 300 bucks and they have an office in cpt

I got a visa for Viet-Nam in 2010 but did not pay so much, although I have a British passport. If I recall it was R 300 for me and R 450 for my wife. We were there about 10 days.

Thanks for the reply guys. I'm not looking for info regarding the Embassy and how they process it - I already have that. I'm mainly interested in if I can use http://www.vietnam-visa.com/ or stay away from it. It seems like less hassle and is cheaper, hence why I want to go for it.

Hi all,

similar to OP, I got my flights booked for a SE trip in June (coming soon in another thread) and need to sort out Visa for Vietnam.

I am base in CT and just wanted to know how to arrange my VISA for Vietnam from those who have been there recently. There are quite a few sites that claim to offer this service but a bit skeptical of most of them.

Thanks in advance!

I went in December and did visa on arrival.
$10 for visa letter from vietnamvisapro.net before leaving, and then i think $25 stamping fee to immigration when you arrive.

The other option was the embassy in PTA as previously mentioned, but I didn't want to trust my passport to post-office / couriers.

The tripadvisor forums have quite a bit of info on the visa letter sites if you want to figure out which are the reliable ones.

Thanks a lot for the reply Dobes!

I am flying out on the 2 June so cutting it a bit close for the courier Passport option. Plus same as you I am not keen on trusting my passport to them. Most of the guys i spoke to at the office used that route and it cost them R1800 per passport :wtf: (albeit the process was very smooth apparently)

So the Visa on arrival is the option i am looking at. Just want to make sure all is above board. Last thing i want is to get there and have a problem.

Will give vietnamvisapro.net a look and read through trip advisor forums :D

wife and I did Visa on arrival as well, as per Dobes. Worked a treat!

Big thanks to Dobes and air! Used vietnamvisapro.net to sort out visa letter.

worked out to $6!!! although that was the cheapest option so you get processed with a bunch or other people on the visa letter. for $11 you can get an private letter with just your details.

I applied at around 6:30 am and had the visa letter in my inbox around 11:30 am! a 5-hour turn around time :D

one strange thing I noticed was that when I got my OTP to approve the payment it said i am about to make a payment of VND1560 which is about R0.91

not sure what happened there but waiting for it to reflect in my account then will report back.

How'd everything go? Did you make the trip to Vietnam yet? :)
