VISA vs Mastercard

Not much difference as far as I can see.

Standardbank is big on Mastercard and FNB on VISA.

I noticed in Europe you see a lot of VISA advertised and American express.

Everything depends on the benefits u get with the card. (My choice)

Which one do you prefer?

I aways see lots of ads for these companies, but whenever I got a bank card at the bank, they never asked me which one I wanted.
And it never really bothered me before.
So I'm wondering why they advertise so much.

My debit card is VISA and my Credit card is Mastercard.
Same bank.

So alf, do you use your Visa card to pay your Mastercard every month?

The main difference is the competitions they offer.

Was in Vienna earlier this year and they seemed big on the whole Mastercard deal, but maybe this is just isolated. Either way go with the card that offers the most and costs the least.

I have both, and it's no difference to me either, except for the repayments. FNB / VISA takes longer to reflect the repayments, even from an FNB check account, whereas from Std Bank check to Std CC is a day or two, depending on which day it is, and what time the payment has been made
