Vista Launched!

I found XP to be more stable than previous Windows incarnations. At least in XP one app going down didn't mean a BSOD. I've never experienced a BSOD out of the blue while XP has been running. It's only at startup when I have come across those cryptic messages wit the various Cx098567...

Vista to me seems nothing more than a touch up. An XP v2 if you will. Well this is from playing around with it with the RCs. That being said I will most likely get it only when I next upgrade. And that's dependant on whether i'll do component upgrading or get a new PC altogether.

And the only reason I will get it is for gaming. I am more than satisfied with what i get out there from using Linux.

WhoopdeefriggenDO!
a) I dont like windows vista
b) looks like an M$ attempt to patch Gnome/KDE into its (alledged)OS
c) Now i got to deal with fscking ****ers that borked their vista as well

a)Yes and MS will shutdown because of this.. wow so sad
b)Um so someone else has a fully hardware accelerated GUI, oh please show and tell this I really want to see.
c)Yes your l33tness, and those should be blessed by interactions with you... ;)

Love how Open Source people claim everything Microsoft does was copied from them. ;) Yet in all their genius have not managed to rid themselves of the command prompt.
Power to the people :D

You make it sound like the command prompt was a bad thing. I still miss my command prompt too. :p

windows vs linux hahahah windows is a ferrari that can just about anything and linux is a beat up old beatle :)

hahahaha im just kidding okes

ShockG, sorry to burst your bubble but for the experts, a command prompt is a feature. Please note that linux does not ship with command.com or cmd.exe, it ships with a shell that is useful. Unlike windows, I can automate most of anything through the shell and now with KDE, I can automate GUI processes via the shell as well.

Once you have experienced the POWER of the command shell, the click, move, click, move, click, apply, click will seem like hell.

This does, of course, presume that the person has something between the ears, not for the drooling masses. BWUHAHAHAHA!!!! (ehvil laf) :)

hmmm can u play games?

can i run creative suite along with corel draw

hmmm will my scanner work from hp? will my 4 printers work?

will i get post script from my lexmark print?

if all this works tell me how :)

You guys are such whiners already! Vista is not the Ultimate advancement of technology, but it's fast, looks cool (IMHO) and it's easy to use.

Now most people sit and cry because the UAC freaks them out, well go into control panel, click users and put UAC off, easy peasy, it's a cool OS, much better than Xp, I'm using and I'm liking! :D ;)

Once you experience the power of DOS5.0, ha ha ha LOL
Open Source Pundits...sight :D

Yes and for all your genius, you still can't make a matching API to Microsoft..
Sure Linux rulez yeah!

Just a little link on a "speed" comparison between the 2 OS's :)

http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/01/29/xp-vs-vista/

Would like to see a comparison between xp and vista using a dx10 card. That review by tom's only really proves dx9 cards being faster in xp compared to vista which is to be expected.

The only worry I have about vista is driver support. I have ordered my copy of home premium from prophecy shop. But I will only install once all drivers for my devices are available.

dude i cannot use any of my printers

how many dx 10 games are there?

none and i think for quite awhile to come

killa, and stefan, you'd be surprised at the driver support which Vista has, I managed to install a 2000 Hp PSC 500 printer on default Windows drivers, if the manafucturer says they don't have a driver, maybe Vista has ;)

I haven't had 1, I EXCLAMATE, 1 problem with Vista so far, installation is a breeze and support is there, if the driver doesn't exist on the site, check windows update ;)

I don't work for M$ either, Jack Sparrow lives on the sea :D

I am waiting for official drivers. All my devices has atleast beta. But I prefer to use official drivers. Nvidia and Asus stated there would be drivers once vista launched but so far on both sites I have seen none for my geforce 8800 gts and also none for my sound card and mobo. Also waiting for logitech to get mouseware for vista and also hp to get drivers for my deskjet 5150.

On DX10 games it doesn't really matter. I am pretty convinced if like me you have dx10 card your games will run better in vista even dx9 games.

Yeah that comparison by Tom is old, with beta drivers and DX9 hardware.
I did a comparison using a little 8800 and Vista was faster, sometimes 40% faster.

Vista

Just read on hp's website that the drivers ship with vista will work till their long term driver is complete. Anybody know what they mean with basic functions??
