Vista Support

WOOOHOOOO!!!!!!
jus changed security in globetrotter connect network connection settings and it connected jus like that.

so now you know.
check the little things 1st.
right modem, right connection settings, right security settings, right APN.

and to think i almost flashed the FW.

bugger!
if i make the connection manually in network connections, it connects and i can then click connect in VMC software for it to see connection and give me stats.
but if i go directly to VMC and click connect, it refuses with same 619 error and then stuffs sumthin up so that i cannot connect manually anymore and must restart vista.
so now i'm sure the problem is in VMC and not in Vista.

how can i be sure?
GlobeTrotter still workin perfectly.

so if you dont need usage stats, i'd say ditch the VMC krap and use manual dial-up connection or GlobeTrotter Connect 2.1.
i, unfortunately NEED the stats so i gotta now fiddle more till i get the dumb thing to work. or i gotta manually connect and then click connect in VMC everytime i use 3G.
eish!

V3G, here's a bug for your devs.

Have you tried disabling the onboard modem to see if VMC behaves any differently?

Your other option is to install something like NetLimiter which will monitor your data usage for you (which is more accurate than VMC).

tried disablin onboard modem.
didn't work.
only occurs after tryin to connect from inside VMC.
then it goes bonkers and messes with everythin.
forced to restart vista or cannot connect at all.
so i wrote a batch file to start net connection and then start VMC.
:)

i'll give netlimiter a try.
right now i'll use anythin that will help me avoid usin VMC coz it sucks!

thanx again for all the help dudes.
you guys rock!
:)

Hey guys, hope everyone's not on leave yet, need some assistance with Vista.
My old PC died, so upgraded and new PC came preloaded with Vista.
Got an E220 modem. When I insert into USB, i get a window asking to run PSB.file(?).
I click on it and it seems to be installing and then...nothing. I've downloaded the Vista patch from the Vodaom site - will it work? And if so, should i first install patch and then reinstall the software on the E220, or vice versa?
I'm a complete noob, so all help will be greatly appreciated. :D

You need to run the Vista update on an XP machine. If you don't have access to one you can always pop round to a local vodashop or vodacare and they can update it for you.

Thanks for the reply morkhans.
That's weird, so it must be run on an Xp machine, and then copied over to the Vista machine?
My old PC with XP died, so i guess it's off to my nearest Vodashop for me...

With the early release of the E220 the software/drivers only worked on XP. When you plug it into a Vista machine it cannot detect the modem. The update will not run if it cannot detect the device. So you have to run the update on XP, once done you then simply plug it into the Vista machine and it install like on XP.

So got connected by upgrading my E220 with the Vista patch. Cool, it connects and i can use it, but intermittently the VMC window freezes up, and so does the internet connection. I can only fix it with a reboot. Any idea what could be the cause of this or if anyone else experienced the same problem? It's damn annoying to say the least, and have tried everything a PC-n00b like me could think of, but the problem remains...

Give MDMA a go (sticky in the MTN forum). It is a very nice alternative connection manager to VMC.

Thanks morkhans, will give it a go. I assume it is Vista-compatible?

Yup. Make sure you close VMC before you start it up as it needs to take control of the modem. In fact if VMC is starting automatically at boot up, disable it.
