Are there such things available? Well, decent ones at least. I've tried a few theme packs but all they did was change the start menu to black. Are there any downloads out there that could actually make XP look exactly like Vista?

I've seen a application that u needed to install , basically converted your startup screen, and added Clock and Menu's that looks exactly like Vista. Even animations and Transparency menu's etc.etc

But i uninstalled it afterwards, or tried to. Cause it simply uses up alot of ram, constant laggs and overall pc slow down. My Startup screen still says Vista lol. But its Normal XP Sp2 still.

Can't remember what it was called tho, but ye, I deleted it right after i uninstalled it.

Vista Transformation Pack?

Got it, although I ditched it after finding my PC's slower than before.

In contrast, enabling Compiz Fusion doesn't feel any slower... but I don't like flashy eyecandy and stuff :D

The one I use is by Bricopacks, called Crystal Clear. Google it. I've found it quite workable. Kind of worried though in case it's causing my computer harm now that other people have mentioned it. Still the reviews are quite good. It gives you a lot of control over transparencies and the login screen, and also an OSX style dock which works well. I haven't noticed any trouble with it since installing it, except the dock sometimes dies unexpectedly.

the last time i had to reformat xp was when i attempted to uninstall the vista transformation pack

Vista transformation pack, but seems as if people have been having problems with it...

is there a way just to get the vista task bar / start button - means I get a good 2cm of extra real estate on the task bar which on a small laptop screen is quite significant

The best one that doesn't hit system performance much is the MSStyle called VistaXP from KoL. It was pulled by MS for resembling Vista too much (haha) but it can still be found by Googling a bit.

lol I just run XP in the old style back from Win95/98 :) Old Skool FTW!

Have you done any of the above mentioned Googling? Could you maybe share a link? :)
