Vista under fire

Im so fed up with M$.

I spent alot of money upgrading and after almost dying from a heart attack trying to install Vista I ended up reinstalling XP:mad:

Vista's Aero interface is the best thing about it and getting BSODS every couple of minutes suck b@lls.

I paid so much money for Vi$ta and I cant even use it Pfffttt!

Which version did you buy and how much do you want for it? ;)

1) Google desktop is slow (when you have 1TB of stuff)
2) wait 3 months and we'll talk again.
3) task balancing between cores is far better.
4) never mind kids, what about employees!!!
5) I'm more of the risk player than chess.

1) Any benchmark?
2) I'll wait ;)
3) Would believe you seeing XP is the older one between the two. Wonder if a patch would help XP or would one need a whole new OS design*cough* Vista?(Put a linux fan boy rant here :D)
4) True (Put another linux rant here :D)
5) Free Risk Computer Game and I'm sure you will get a linux distro with Risk as one of the distro's default games.

WTF!!! Installing Vista is a lot easier than installing it on WinXP

WTF!! x2 - Aero is not the best thing about Vista it's the search features. Which are much beter than google search

sucking b@lls - u talking out of experience:D get a beter system buddy and stop complaining..
It's like you trying to install a V8 Mustang engin in a 1980 VW Beetle :eek:

lol youre funny...

Intel Core 2 E6800
8800GTX
2gig Geil Xtreme ram
Creative x-Fi

WTF are you talking about:confused:

...well everything that previous versions of Windows doesnt do I suppose?
Its quite obvious that Vista is doing things that Win9x/XP do not do ...thats what I am referring to.

And I was asking for specifics. From what I have heard the new features that make the most waves are aero, the search and the new user level controls. But there must be more to justify those system requirement because the aforementioned sure don't.

If you had a good experience with Vista good for you ,but I havent.

Maybe when M$ decides to fix all the problems I also can enjoy it.

k, maybe take a read through my 1st post again. Vista is quite a different experience to XP.

Aero - yea, big part of it but dont just look at Aero as the beginning and end of that - wait till developers start using the new capabilities of the GUI in other applications, Aero is just a minamlistic example of what is now possible. Heck just hang in till the dudes over at DeviantArt start developing themes and apps for it!

What I am trying to say is that its not just naming feature XYZ ...its about how it all fits together and the changes in how you use the OS. ...quite a thing for MS;)

In any case: what do you have against using a buncha RAM and a dual core?? It freakin RAWKS DUDE! Ask yourself honestly: would you rather scrape thru in XP with 512meg and a P4 or rock Aero with everything switched on and turned right-the-hell-up and 4gigs with a Core Duo2?? ...eh?
Its actually redundant 'cos in a year or two it'll all be that way anyhow so ...now or later?

1) Any benchmark?

Google desktop can take up to 45 seconds to search my entire "media" collection

Vista search does it in less than 5 seconds (if you've got the ram)

New games are out now "Vista Only".

Sooner or later, big brother MS is going to force us to upgrade. That's how they make such fat profits with such bad coding.

no such thing as bad coding only LAZY coding

Another reason I like open source "given enough eyes all bugs is shallow" but to be honest I like Windows*cough* XP(NT) design and feel thats why I can't wait for React OS to get out of alpha stage. :D

Regards,

I have a personal aversion to Dell notebooks, I recently decided to buy an HP which regrettably was pre-installed with Vista Business (Basic), I might have changed my mind if Dell actually had notebooks available with Ubuntu pre-installed - or at least certified|guaranteed to support Ubuntu 7.04. I run Ubuntu in VMware workstation in Vista, hopefully I will one day be able to migrate my HP host machine over to Ubuntu, or maybe Gentoo depending on the mood I'm in at the time. There is a downgrade option to heXPee, but I won't bother with all the hassle involved with that.

There's a hack around that

Nothing here but the usual Microsoft bashing... the author bashes Vista while promoting Linux hmmm, theres nothing new there either a few years ago it was XP being bashed to promote Linux, a few years before that 98.

"That's how they make such fat profits with such bad coding." LOL I bet you think writing an application is all copying and pasting bits of html and then some magic just makes it all work perfectly.

Vista is pretty solid, and has few problems for such a massive new operating system.

With all due respect, you make it sound like it's some sort of crime to have a personal preference for Linux.

Uncle ic, you are a Linux man, I've downloaded Ubuntu 7.04 but I don't have an extra hdd to load it yet. Am I going to "sukkel" to work on it, or is it easy to learn? ;)
