I just wanted to say that vista ultimate runs a lot smoother with 60gigs free on a drive:D.
Anyway..I am sure you have heard that if you have a dualboot system like xp/vista...xp will alwyz delete the vista restore points...this sucks yes...

well there are only 2 known things that work to fix this issue...
microsoft remedy ..
1-A registry entry that you put in the registry when you in xp..THe bad side is that you wont be able to access your vista drive/partition..

2-Use the ultimate extra in vista,I THINK ITS BITLOCKER.:D

tELL ME THOSE that have this problem solved what did you do,and what was the cons.

I personaly gonna bitlock my drive tonight from xp..to save my restore points..

no but i mean if you can say vista is useless then i can say linux is useless

hahahah

vista FTW xp FTW linux just sucks

hahaha come on freak out and go mad

I see no reason to feed the troll, but thanks.

Fact is, I have had experience on 98, XP, Vista and Linux, so I can actually make an objective opinion about them. Personally, I think XP is a pretty damn good OS, and I use it quite regularly. I am not benchmarking Vista against Linux, I am benchmarking it against XP, and so yes, compared to XP, it is a badly-designed piece of rubbish. Linux doesn't enter into it.

Things Vista sucks at:

User interface:
NOTHING is easily changeable, not even the background wallpaper. Navigating somewhere is almost impossible without clicking at least 10 times. It is sluggish and not intuitive in the least.

Drivers:
If I want to install drivers that aren't signed, it is MY RIGHT TO DO SO, I did not pay R1600 for this OS so that I could be stopped from USING IT AS I CHOOSE.

Compatibility:
Unlike XP, stuff generally doesn't "just work" in Vista. Plug n Play has once again become Plug n Pray.

Administration:
HOW? You do not need to treat me like an idiot, Vista. One warning is enough. If I want to edit something important, it is my right to do so, I did, after all, spend R1600 on you.

Power Usage:
At the end of the day, I would way rather my laptop battery lasted longer, than Vista look pretty.

Need I go on? This isn't a "Vista sucks, Linux for the win" debate; this is a "Vista sucks, stick to XP" argument. However, now that you brought it up, could you come up with anything Linux sucks at? If you can think of something that doesn't include "u cant play gamez lol!", I might just give you a medal, because it seems to be the only argument you have against Linux as an OS.

Either way; Vista sucks, stick to XP.

hahah u linux okes so easy to work up, it amazes me how linux okes cannot see a joke when something is said about linux and freak out

i can without doubt say u have zero experience with vista much like myself with linux :)

In your vista OS, you set your restore points to another drive/folder. Maybe use the same drive where vista is on. I'm assuming this is a different one to where XP resides. Or have you already tried this...?

Really? Because when Vista was first released early last year I used it as my desktop OS for quite some time. I hated every second of it but did so because I work in IT, and may have to troubleshoot it, so it would help me to know my way around. So, as a matter of fact, I have had quite a decent amount of experience with it, thus I feel I am able to draw my own conclusions about the OS. Also, I am not worked up in the least, I am merely stating facts, it is just unfortunate for you that the facts completely obliterate your argument.

ok so your telling me you only used it in the beginning did not like it and never used it again

if thats the case wtf do ppl use xp

when xp first came out it was dodgy but a year later it was awesome

you should try vista now and come tell me the same story

vista is something u get used and once you do you'll understand how stable and better than xp it is

i used it when it first came out went back to xp for 6 months and reloaded it, now i love it

the strange thing is your stating facts about an operating system u barely know

vista has come along way since jan 07 and maybe if you took the time to investigate and find out instead of bashing it the whole time, you would see that those things you stated as facts are not actually true

NO IDEA WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT, GUESS YOU HAVE TO USE IT FOR MORE THAN 1 MINUTE TO LEARN INSTEAD OF JUST BASHING IT WITHOUT ACTUALLY USING IT FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME

Drivers:

YOU CAN EASILY TURN THIS FEATURE OFF USING F8 BUT THEN AGAIN YOU WOULD NOT KNOW THAT :)

NOT SURE WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT AGAIN

STRANGE I HAVE SOLD ALOT OF LAPTOPS WITH VISTA AND POWER USAGE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A PROBLEM

I'm stating facts about an OS I barely know? This coming from the guy trolling Linux threads?

Yes, when XP first came out, there were a lot of issues with it (though not nearly as many as there were with Vista), and thus I didn't use XP until SP2 was released.

You want to know what my biggest issue with Vista (as well as Microsoft and other software companies *cough* EA *cough*) is that one is expected to pay around R1600 (for the LOWER-END version - R2600 if you want Ultimate) so that you can effectively beta test it? I'm sorry, when a company puts a product on the shelf with a price tag like that, I kinda expect it to work right the first time.

Now who's getting worked up? :D

It is simple. Personally, Vista does not suit my needs. I do not see it as an acceptable upgrade to XP. First things first, stop basing your entire argument on the fallacy that I only used Vista for five minutes. I didn't, I used it for much, much longer. Now I don't know about you and your clear "lower standards", but I require a fast user-interface as a prerequisite of my OS, considering my advanced computing ability and requirements :D

So you go right ahead and be a Vista zealot, but that isn't going to stop me from pointing out what I see as flaws.

naaa im not gettin worked up i just used caps to show what i was saying

i dont troll linux threads only when ppl start bashing vista and claiming you can game on linux for free do i get involved

You can game on Linux... For free...

But you wouldn't know that, considering you have never used it. Surely you can see the hypocrisy in your argument?

Either way, my 2 cents is that Vista is no where near ready to replace XP, at least for me, personally. My original argument had nothing to do with Linux, and you clearly brought it up in an attempt to start a flame war which is not only pointless but also somewhat immature. Anyhow, back to the thread.

I don't use Vista, it is such a pointless OS :D

just thought i would quote this and then make you think why i would bash your beloved linux

see the thing i really dislike about you linux okes is you can bash vista but let a vista user say one bad word against linux and your all like omw how can he bash linux

stop bashing vista and i'll stop bashing linux because i dont really care what OS ppl use but i do care that ppl who dont use vista bash it
