Saw a guy this morning on a red honda cbr1000rr riding like a real idiot, speeding at like 130 in the white lane on the N1(by malibongwe drive) during peak traffic.

Bikers like that are the clowns that are giving bikes a bad reputation.

I couldn't agree more. That is such a silly thing to do.

Tigers are "forever" in the shop due to stepper motor failure
Triples are prone to stator and rectifier failure (iirc they had a recall on this, check that your model is not affected, or if it is, that the recall has been done)

Every brand is going to have its duds and the small sample sizes we all have looking at family and friends is not going to give a good picture of reliability. Most BMWs I know of only start giving issues around the 80 000km mark (I know of one thats still going strong at over 600 000km), doesnt mean you should think BMW is ultra reliable. I've also seen a 1200 destroy its timing chain within 1000km

I'm of the opinion that every brand out there today is reliable enough, otherwise they wouldn't be in the market anymore

I have a Tiger 800XC and have put on over 13 000KM in less than 5 months, I do A LOT of dirt (weekend dirt rides, dirt trips to Saabie and Himeville, etc.) as well as daily commuting, no stepper motor issues. It is a known issue with the 800XC where dust gets in there and causes idling issues but the fix is rather simple.... a quick squirt or two with either Q20 or even compressed air and its good to go. They don't have to book bikes in to fix it.
I Met a guy on my Saabie ride who had a 800GSa with less than 6000KM and while there he blew the engine for the second time, had literally just gotten it back from BMW. Another guy had issues with his KTM 990's fuel pump the whole time. And in fairness and to show I am not brand bashing, I had issues with my rear shock on the last day (luckily it turned out to just be the pre-load adjuster somehow coming out and not threading back in properly, sorted soon as I got back, phew!)

I do agree that just about every brand will have some issues now and then and whether it's a car or a bike you will get the odd Monday bike (that must be the worst, just plain bad luck!). So ya, not arguing or anything but the stepper motor issue is minor, I can imagine it must be super annoying when you out in the sticks and the bike wont idle though, would piss me off big time but I ride prepared after reading about this when I was researching the 800XC. And yes, won't lie, I'm a rather big Triumph fanoboi so had to give my 2c hahaha.

Tyre RSA, dig the vids, I am Religious about having my Virb recording while I ride and if the battery dies I feel very exposed and naked almost. I need to also start getting the good bits together but I SUCK at editing lol.... Speaking of, what do you use to edit/make your vids?

Oh ya, sub'd on youtube!

Thanks a lot Friggs and thanks for the sub. I use Sony Vegas Pro for my editing.

Yeah definitely. I started commuting on a scooter. Rode it for about 2 years and then upgraded to the NC. Was the best move I ever made. The bike was a huge jump up and worked well in traffic. My friend at work now rides the scooter to work.

I used to have a Vespa 200 as a stuff around at my parents place in CT. Man that was fun. I'd commute with that thing any day.

Another guy on an STR nice.

Just ordered some risers for mine and waiting the post office don't lose it mid strike.

A bit too sporty for my back. ;)

Mind reposting the channel link?
